***Warning: The following post is from a Leaf fan and includes three 'ifs' before the season starts.***
Leafs D-men have been for most part as strong as an ox, although unfortionately, as slow and agile as one. Too many times, a defenseman was gambling. Forwards would get around Schenn and Komisarek. Franson isn't going to be covering one half of the ice all by himself either. Hopefully all the defensemen's training has been more focused on speed and agility. If Carlyle can rein in the chances... and my biggest hope, get forwards to play back, the Leafs won't be caught playing with only one man back anymore. And if they do that, I don't think Franson will look that bad. ...don't think Komi will look that bad, think the goaltending will look miles better, and think the team will make the playoffs.
Imagine if Carlyle can get some forwards to play defensively? I'd love to see some Krushelnyski, Zezel, Osborne, Bill Berg...
