Are the Leafs destined to never ever have a #1 center?

That wasn't going to be the outcome of today no matter what happened.

I agree, that is a good point. Trade or draft. Bozak is the best option for Kessel right now IMO, unless Nonis could have made a good trade today.

Man, Clarkson better become a consistent 25+ goal guy, or that contract is going to worst contract in the league bad.

Clarkson is an animal.  I think he produces good numbers and even if he doesn't he will be out there on one leg throwing himself at defenders on every shift.

I would say that it's somewhat telling that we haven't heard a ton of teams in on Grabo.

Kind of like ... Grabovski?

Brad Boyes > MacArthur

He's a guy I've been hoping we pick up.

Why?

Good opportunity for price/performance.

48 GP, 10G 25A, 35PTS last year for 1 M.  He would fit nicely in our open 2nd line RW position, could probably be had for < 3M, and would probably register 25G, 60 PTS.

I don't think Boyes will come close to matching those numbers TBH. He was really just there for the ride with Tavares.

He's had similar numbers for the last several years, save for a recent year in Buffalo.  Maybe 25G was optimistic, but 15-20G and 50-60 PTS should be attainable.

That's MacArthur production with a lower cap hit.

But in case you hadn't noticed, that price performance moneyball #@%$ isn't in in Toronto.

Is Claude Loiselle bound and gagged in Carlyle's trunk?

The Toronto Maples are the 2013 Buffalo Sabers, Ville-Leino loving club.

That's all well and good, but, at money he's rumoured to be getting, he has to produce good numbers on a consistent basis to justify it. You can get guys that will throw their body around for a lot less than that.

No, kind of not.

I'm okay with 18-22 goals for Clarkson as long as he helps the team win. For me, the wins are more important than the goal totals. Now, let's see the terms...  :-\

I'd keep Grabbo for a year in an offensive role rather than sign Bozak for that money.

I was happy when I saw Grabbo was bought out thinking of the cap space, but I think I feel worse about this as time goes on.

DarrenDreger: Typing too fast. Leafs waiting on word from Clarkson on 7 year deal. Interested in AAV...sounds like less than $6 mil per. We'll see.

Extra blargh.

Holy ------  LESS THAN 6.  LECAVALIER SIGNED FOR 4.5.

You cannot compare Lecavalier's contract to anyone's contract this year.

So we are bringing back Bozak and Grabovski's money is likely going to go to Clarkson.  Sigh.  Not how free agency was envisioned to go.
