This is a pretty terrible return, although that was to be expected at this point.

I really need to figure out who my girlfriend needs to harass in order for me to move to Northern California.

Oh, now it makes more sense from Ottawa's perspective:

That's basically the only way to justify the return. Colorado is going to be getting a great pick out of them from that terrible Duchene deal.

San Jose taking themselves out of Tavares contention for good?

That's what I was thinking, but really it's only ~$1m in cap difference, right?

Eh, more the what environment do I want to raise a family in sort of thing.

Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Panthers have acquired forward Mike Hoffman and a 2018 seventh round pick from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Florida's 2019 second round pick, 2018 fourth round pick and 2018 5th round pick.

nvm?

Doug Wilson is a magician.

This didn't last long. Sharks have cleared a lot of cap room and picked up some draft capital.

So the question is....

Did Ottawa really prefer Bodkker and Bergmen over a package of picks (2nd, 4th, 5th)... or did they want to send him as far away as possible and didn't know he was just going to get flipped back to Ottawa's division?

LOL either way.

I think getting a package of picks like that for Hoffman would look too close to the R word for Melnyk.

What's interesting here is that Tallon isn't saying something like, "Mike told me none of this happened and I believe him". He says it's in the past and that they're putting it behind them.

Also, it very much isn't in the past. There was literally an active investigation going on about it.
