If you missed it, here's how it happened:

Good news:

Hyman also looks to be about a week away from returning:

Babcock said they might be looking for yet another goalie.  If Andersen can't play tomorrow I expect they'll go and get one because they want Kaskisuo back down working on his game.

That really wouldn't make any sense if Andersen is only going to be out for one more game. They already sent Kaskisuo back down to the Marlies and they have a game tonight. So he'll probably play in that one and then if Andersen can't go tomorrow he'll be recalled to back-up Hutch again.

Sparks biggest issue on that play is he appears to turn his head and take it off the side of the helmet more than the top/forehead. Those helmets are designed to take shots straight on not from the side.

Looks like sparks may loose his job. Hutch is looking very good.

He's played two games, got lit up in the first, and had very few challenging saves to make last night. Huge sample size there.

Hilariously Sparks also got Shellac'd and posted a shutout the next game. My how we have short memories.

Still no Andersen.
Just how hard did Nylander hit Sparks anyway?

Hutch took a shot of the mask in the game last night too and seems to fine.

Like I said above,Sparks appears to take it off the side of the helmet/temple of the helmet. Hutchinson took it square in the forehead. Those helmets are meant for head on impacts.

Still no Andersen.

I figure that they're being extra cautious.  Since Hutch just scored a shut-out, why not just give Andersen another 3 days of rest.

Sounds promising. He was seen walking around without a limp or anything like that too.

Yeah, makes it sound like there isn't any ligament damage.

Regardless of how you feel about him, the Leafs need Gardiner at 100% for playoffs. If he has to sit for a week or two weeks or a month right now to make sure that happens then so be it. We have like half a dozen other defencemen who can play a shift.

Also on the injury front: Kadri skated for about 30 minutes for the first time today since his concussion, but left the ice before the team practice began. A good sign but not an indication he'll be playing soon.

Agree. I think it's time to play Holl for a few games to see how his development has come along.
