Game Notes

NYI
?Varlamov (14-4-3, 2.41 GAA, .921 Sv%) will likely start for the Islanders
?For a large part of the season the Islanders were rotating their starting goalie every single game. Lately though Varlamov has been getting more of the starts as Greiss has started to struggle
?New York just recently lost defenceman Adam Pelech for the remainder of the season after he injured his Achilles tendon in the warm-ups of their last game. It's a big blow as Pelech led the team in 5-on-5 ice time

TOR
?Andersen (21-8-4, 2.67 GAA, .916 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?The Leafs will look to continue their point streak which is currently at 9 games (8-0-1)

Injuries

?Adam Pelech - Achilles - Injured Reserve
?Cal Clutterbuck - Wrist - Injured Reserve
Code:

?Trevor Moore - Concussion - Injured Reserve
?Andreas Johnsson - Leg - Injured Reserve
?Jake Muzzin - Foot - Injured Reserve
?Ilya Mikheyev - Wrist - Injured Reserve

I wish this game:

1.  Were on the island, and
2.  Were yesterday's game, except
3.  Tavares converts all of 88's setups.

Boy are the Isles in for a surprise. This isn't Babs' Grinding McGees anymore. This is Keefe's fricken Leafs.

Keefe confirms that Hutch starts. No back to backs for awhile so he had to get a game in at some point. Not sure I would have picked this one though but let's see how it goes.

Unless you?re going to sit him for another week and a half until the Leafs play New Jersey, this is probably the best choice. The Islanders are the weakest offence the Leafs face in that stretch (though, Chicago and Edmonton aren?t far behind in terms of team offence - they do have more potent individual players).

Yeah but at least in those games that Leafs are more likely to be able to pot a lot of goals to keep up if Hutch has a bad game. Let's hope he surprises us and plays decent.

And while the Islanders aren't high in the league in offence they always seem to bring it against us.

Again, having to parse whether it's OK to play Hutchinson against Team X is an indictment.

Eek always hold my breath when Hutchinson starts. Can he have a game with less than 4 goals against? Time will tell

Yes. It really is a troubling counterpoint to all of those incessant "Hutchinson for Vezina" campaigners.

I think this is a good move by Keefe. Hutch has to play and the Leafs have played too loosey goosey lately. The Leafs know they have to limit their mistakes especially with Hutch in net.

So, what's the deal with Dal Colle?  He was 18g and 16a in 34GP in the A last year, and I thought he turned a corner...2g 2a in 28GP for the Isles this season.

Also, I guess Ho-Sang is back playing for their A affiliate?  He's got 3a in 4 GP.

Just not good enough for the big league. Both 1st round picks and especially bad considering what went after Dal Colle.

Ho-Sang is the most overrated prospect of all time based on the way he talks about himself.

Haha. I was going to write.. He's the greatest prospect ever just ask him.

Dal Colle was a consensus top 5 pick at the time. Obviously, he hasn?t lived up to that yet, and may never, buy, at the time, he was the right pick.
