I've changed my mind on Orr.  I want him to play every game.  I want him to set the record for most games without a point.

If this was Carlyle's plan all along, allowing that John Scott goal was a brilliant move.

EDIT:  If anyone is seriously interested, I think the record was set by Pittsburgh's Tyler Wright, with 61 games in one season in 1998-1999.  Orr is already half-way there at 31 games this season alone.

Orr doesn't play much.  Think his ice-time in this drought is about the same as Kessel's in 10 games.  If Orr's offense is 1/4 of Kessel's... I'd say Orr could double this pointless streak without problem.

I believe that's the record for most games in one season without a point. Most games without a point, however, is longer than that. I'm struggling to find the actual record, but, John Scott went 73 games between points, so, it's at least that. The record for games between regular season goals, however, is 255 and held by Ken Daneyko.

53 consecutive games without a point and counting (including the playoffs).

Yeah, I spent a few hours trying to track down the worst stretch between points and couldn't come up with anything better than Scott's 73 games.

Speaking strictly of forwards (career numbers)
Billy Cameron - 39GP 0 points
Milt Halliday - 67GP 1 point
Andre Picard - 67GP 2 points

I think Scott might actually hold the record for most games without a point.

Actually, I'd love to know how many shots he's had in that time.

He might. It could also be Wright, though. I couldn't find game logs for him for the seasons on either side of his pointless year. Either way, Orr has a way to go to get there (especially since most streaks are regular season games only).

Yet he almost scored last game, and/or could have had an assist during that one little flurry.

I'm a little surprised Benier is back in net. I wonder if the team is set on playing him as a starter for a while to see how it goes. This is I think his 6th straight start, which is the most he's ever started in a row.

If he shows he can be a full time starter, then Reimer becomes a trade option at the deadline, if the team hasn't tanked.

I stand corrected on the Scott front.  Wright went 91 games without a point between 1998-1999: 26 games in the 97-98 season; 61 games in 98-99; and the first 4 games of the 99-2000 season.

Orr's Ice-times.
Regular season 2012/13, playoffs, regular season 2013/14.
281:10
045:36
188:16
======
514:52 <---Orr's ice-time last two seasons (including playoffs)
514:13 <---Clarkson's ice-time.

Difference?  8 points with higher quality line-mates.

Leafs could certainly dress seven D tonight with Clarkson out up front. Other option is Frazer McLaren.

I never understand why 7 defencemen isn't the automatic answer in these situations.
