Jian Ghomeshi

Then he could have worked for the BBC.  They love covering up sex scandals.  They only went after jimmy seville after he died.

Yeah maybe I should have just put "has anyone seen this and is it worth watching?"

I liked it fwiw. One of the interviewed CBC execs looked kind of squirmy. I thought it was funny and kind of uncomfortable to watch.

Trial of Gomeshi resumed a while ago. It will end soon. Updates so far:

I agree with Margarite on this. If what we have to go on is testimony and the accusers only have partial stories it makes them seem less credible, and could possibly lead to reasonable doubt in regards to his guilt.

I think he's as guilty as hell but with the facts saying these women continued to communicate with him after the assaults is going to make it near impossible to convict him..

The way things are going. is there any possibility that gomeshi goes back to a wrongful dismissal claim

And not only that but that it was definitely flirtatious in nature which they are trying to flimsily deny and withholding that information from the police and crown. That's the worst part.

I think the guy is a scumbag, but this will be a much tougher conviction than anyone thought.

If you go back and look at the exchange you and busta had after he was charged(around reply #121) you'll see his conviction wasn't seen as a slam dunk by everyone. What busta said has largely proven true and which really shouldn't be a surprise given how hard it is to prosecute sexual assaults.

Oh I'm not saying it would be a slam dunk, but I mean, its been pretty lopsided so far.

I think you might have misread my post. I didn't say you said it was a slam dunk, I said that contrary to what you said, a lot of people thought it would always be a tough conviction. These cases are always an uphill battle.

I think this reinforces why so few sexual assaults are reported.  It's nearly impossible to get a conviction, and now many of the witnesses' have had their names and motives dragged through the mud publicly. :(

Well in the case of the one woman who chose to have their name out there, I would imagine she was prepared for that.  The defence attorney was not going to be treating any of the witnesses with kid gloves.
