Kings @ Leafs - Dec. 11th, 7:30pm - TSN, TSN 1050

Well, they do say that sometimes, after a stretch of playing really poorly, you'll have a couple where you play well and lose before you start playing well and winning. Hopefully, they can keep this up, because tonight was, by far, their best 60 minute effort of the season.

Let's hope.

I know people are going to look at this as a massive change but what we've seen of late but honestly I think tonight was the last few weeks in a nut shell. Tied game in the third, both teams better players got their chances, LA's were just able to actually turn them into something.

THAT'S more like the Ron Wilson hockey I've been pining for.

They essentially made 2 mistakes that cost them. It happens. LA is a good team. They're going to bury you on mistakes like that more often than not. It's better than sitting back and waiting for the inevitable.

That part was similar, as was the poor showing on the PK. The rest, however, was seriously different from their play over most of the season. Whether they can keep it up, however, remains to be seen.

They were skating like we haven't seen since the last 4 or 5 games against BOS in the playoffs last spring.

Sure didn't get any help from the refs tonight.  I have no idea what's a penalty most nights.  I thought the Kings would have been sent to the box several times in the 3rd yet nada.  Leafs first penalty just didn't look that way to me.

I suppose I'm less interested in whether they can keep those things up than I am in whether they can change the other things. I don't feel any better about this loss than the others.

Yeah Kadri was knocked down in the offensive zone before the Kings scored their 3rd goal. A powerplay there could have easily resulted in a Leafs win.

The refs called the game the same way for both teams tonight, so, while I agree that there's a maddening amount on inconsistency across the league when it comes to the officiating, it was very consistent in terms of how things were called tonight.

Well, I think being able to maintain their improvements in the areas they were able to be successful tonight should lead to them being able to improve in those other areas, as well. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say.
