Komarov - Leafs Most Interesting Man

Also keep in mind that in the KHL, European players are less likely to be pulverized by a concussion-inducing hit.  Not to mention that they don't have to deal with all the various cheap interference tactics employed in the NHL.  Oh sorry, I mean "forechecking" and "backchecking".

In other words, yes they have more prominent roles, worry less about career-ending injuries, play actual hockey (not this garbage interference), make more money, live in beautiful Europe (not in a violent and culturally dead country)...they'd be stupid not to play in the KHL.

Once the KHL gets a hold of its shady past and questionable characters, there won't be any downsides left to playing there.

Thank you for participating in the forum, Mr. Medvedev.

We appreciate your opinions,  but posting while drunk is never a good idea.

Culturally Dead?  Is this like multicultural day where people think culture only means food and music?

This is, and for the foreseeable future will continue to be, an 'if', not a 'once'. If anything, given the trends in Russian politics and Russian society, this is going to get worse, not better.

I think you could say the exact same thing about North American politics and business corruption.

Dear Mr. Barber - please stop trolling this site.

Regards,

Devastating news, looks like the player (Ronny Keller) who got hit in the Swiss league I posted about last night will stay paralyzed.

Terrible news as doctors confirm that Swiss D Ronny Keller will be paraplegic after being hit headfirst into boards in a game for promotion

What happens on this side of the pond is so vastly different from the insanity that happens in Russia that it's laughable that you'd even compare the two.

Is there a way for the Leafs to sign Komarov by Dec 1 and let him play out his contract in the KHL before coming over? He'd be a boost to a playoff drive...

Don't think you can overlap contracts. Not sure if he has an out-clause, but he'd have to leave the KHL to sign with the Leafs.

Yeah, I don't think so either but it would be neato if it was possible, thought maybe one of the contract savvy posters would know ( busta? )

It's sort of a tricky area. If his KHL team agrees to it or if he has an NHL out in his contract, then it can be done, but, otherwise, no. Not until his KHL season is over, at least. On the plus side, since the Leafs tendered a qualifying offer to him, he's still on their reserve list, so he wouldn't have to clear waivers to come over.

Thank you sir, I'd love to see him come back, though it's probably not a priority for Nonis etc., still, interesting to see there could be an opening for it.

Agreed. Didn't we talk about him when we found out that he was leaving? I thought somebody had said that he did have an out clause.

I thought so but couldn't find anything before I posted.

Leo Komarov's two-year deal in KHL is official. It's believed to include an out clause next summer where he can return to #leafs.
