This should pretty much confirm Freddy is done for the regular season.
I know there was some talk this could happen but I'm surprised it did. I guess they don't want Hutch playing any meaningful games going forward and want goaltender depth. At this point you wonder if Andersen stays or if they get him off the books and make a pitch for Taylor Hall. Pretty much 0% chance but who knows. A man can dream [emoji23].

How much cap space do we realistically have now?

Could be..I guess he has a pretty serious going on.. Hope he can get healthy

The Leafs play Montreal on Monday and then Calgary visits on Tuesday. Wonder if Rittich travels with the Flames to that game and then gets the start against them.

Earl is the cap guy...Leafs have 3.25 Mill left.. Dubas isn't done IMO

I think he travels with Calgary because he has to take a chartered flight or quarantine if he takes a regular flight.

That clearly implies Freddy is done.  Have to figure they pick up a defenseman at the point.  Between Nash and Foligno (and Galchenyuk) that shores up the forward group.  Rittich gives them a backup or a really good 3rd goalie in the playoffs if Andersen is back.

I don?t dislike Dermott but an upgrade there would go a long way to maximizing what this team can do.

Well they have 3+ Mill to play with..

Fairly clear they're comfortable going for it here so if there's an upgrade they'll look into it. None of the UFA defencemen are very appealing though.

But they may go after a guy who isn't a UFA and worry about the draft later..would depend on the D man.
Let's see what Dubas has left, if anything. Maybe a small move

Like the deal. Rittich played well for the Flames in the past hopefully he regains some of that form. Definitely an upgrade from Hutch.

I don't expect anything but an upgrade over Hutch. Leafs should be good in the goalie department now.

I sure hope Andersen is back for the playoffs.  If Campbell gets hurt again I'd want Andersen over Rittich any day.

As for upgrading Dermott, I don't see any clear path to doing that, other than bringing up Sandin and hoping for the best.
