Game Notes

TOR
?Campbell (11-0-0, 1.88 GAA, .934 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Toronto has recently added 2 players to their team at the deadline (so far). Neither is expected to suit up for them tonight though as Foligno still has a week of quarantine to go through and Rittich is likely still making his way to the team

MTL
?Allen (5-6-4, 2.52 GAA, .912 Sv%) will likely start for the Canadiens
?After a hot start Jake Allen has fallen back to Earth. He was 4-2-1 with a .932 Sv% in his first 7 games and 1-4-3 with a .891 Sv% in his next 8 games

Injuries

Oh yeah there's a game. You may have to move that Mete scratch from the Habs to the Leafs after noon  ;)

Calgary plays in Toronto tomorrow, so I (and everyone else) assume he is flying in on the Flames charter (probably today), and might be suiting up in blue against his old team right out of the gate.

I think that's a given.  No quarantine needed so he can go right in.

I hate all this chummy stuff, <grumble grumble, shake fist>; I hope they put him in the back row of the plane and refuse to give him peanuts.

If  you are going to give him an opportunity you probably need to do it sooner than later (especially before Foligno and Nylander come back) but he has been back for four games since his injury and has 1G 0A in 4GP.  That's not exactly the kind of performance that screams NHL opportunity.

How many more games do the Leafs need to win to sow up first place?  What happens to VV now that Rittich is now a Leaf?

A lot (technically).  Winnipeg is still only 6 points back of the Leafs with both teams played 41 games so they both have 15 games left.

30 points remaining.  The magic number right now is 25 points either way to clinich because RW and ROW are the first tie-breakers.  Magic number is 15 for to clinch a playoff spot still (Vancouver) and 9 points to eliminate Calgary.

Yup. Still a long way to go. Even Buffalo hasn't been officially eliminated yet. Going to at least a couple weeks before teams start officially clinching spots.

Looking forward to see how far Robertson has come since the last time we?ve seen him dress as a Leaf.

However , I?m thinking we see a bit of a clunker from the buds tonight. Goalie records set, Back on top of the league , help on the way with the trades today. Feels like one of those inevitable letdown games.

Further to the magic number discussion.  Tie-breakers are PT%/Points > RW > ROW > Total wins > H2H

Winnipeg - 25 (Leafs lead 4-2-0 to 2-2-2) 4 games H2H
Edmonton 22 (Leafs won season series) 1 game remaining
Montreal 21 (Leafs lead 4-1-0 to 1-3-1) 5 games remaining
Vancouver 15 (Leafs lead 3-2-0 to 2-3-0) 4 games remaining
Calgary 9  (Leafs won season series) 1 game remaining
Ottawa (Eliminated)

Winnipeg is on pace for 72 points (Leafs would need 13 points to tie)
Edmonton is on pace for 69 points (Leafs would need 10 points to tie)
Montreal is on pace for 63 points (Leafs would need 4 points to tie)
Vancouver is on pace for 53 points (Leafs are 6 points up on pace)
Calgary is on pace for 51 points (Leafs are 8 points up on pace)

Winnipeg has 4 games against Ottawa (5-1-0), 4 against Toronto (2-2-2), 3 against Edmonton (2-4-0), 1 against Calgary (5-2-1), 1 against Montreal (6-2-0)

Edmonton has 5 games against Vancouver (3-2-0), 4 against Montreal (1-3-1), 3 against Winnipeg (4-2-0), 2 against Calgary (5-3-0)

Montreal has 5 against Calgary (1-3-0), 5 games against Toronto (1-3-1), 4 against Edmonton (4-1-0), 3 against Ottawa (3-2-2), 1 against Winnipeg (2-3-3)

So the Leafs are probably looking at around 15 points or 74 points to lock up the division realistically (6-6-3 would do that).  They are on pace for 81 points.

Hey Carlton, you screwed up the Leafs' lineup.

Barabanov plays for the San Jose Sharks, not the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Please update.
