Game Notes
TOR
? Nothing much to talk about.  Mike Babcock will not be behind the Leafs bench after starting the year 9-10-4 and the team currently on a 6-game winless streak.  Babcock finishes his Toronto tenure with a 173-133-45 regular season record (average 40-31-11 82-game record).
? Sheldon Keefe, come on up.  Sheldon continues his partnership with Kyle Dubas following his from Sault St. Marie, to the Marlies and now steps behind the bench as the 31st coach in Toronto Maple Leafs history.    Keefe has been the head coach of the Marlies for the last 4+ seasons, compiling a record of 200-89-31.  He most notably won the Calder Cup in 2017-2018.
? Graduates of the Sheldon Keefe Marlies include: William Nylander, Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi Kapanen, Travis Dermott, Justin Holl, Zach Hyman, Frederik Gauthier, Nic Petan, Trevor Moore, Martin Marincin, Kasimir Kaskuo and Dmytro Timashov
? Auston Matthews returns home.  Babcock and Matthews didn't seem to see eye to eye so this will be a big game for him to show he can take it to the next level
? Frederik Anderson is expected to start (2.76 GAA .912 SV%)

ARI
? Arizona is coming off back to back 3-0 shutouts against Calgary and the LA Kings
? Arizona sits 2nd in the Pacific division and is tied for the 3rd best record in the Western Conference
? Arizona boasts the stingiest defines in the league giving up only 49 goals in 22 games (32 fewer than the Leafs)
? Darcy Kuemper is expected to start (1.85 GAA .937 SV%)

Injuries

?Mitch Marner - Ankle - Injured Reserve
?Trevor Moore - Shoulder - Injured Reserve
Code:

? Niklas Hjalmarsson - leg - Injured Reserve

They will halt their losing streak tonight. The game will be finished on my birthday, after midnight, so I can only see a win coming.

Go Leafs Go!!!

Sleep in?

Taking a page out of the Leafs book and starting late.

LOL!

Going to have to miss the first period tonight, really wanted to see how the team responds to the change. Hopefully by the time I tune in it'll be about 4-0 Leafs.

I have no idea how Arizona is getting that out of their roster.
Coaching, plain and simple, hopefully we now will get some effective coaching on our side.  Not expecting miracles in the first few games however.  If Dubas had his way Keefe would have had training camp to institute his systems.
Beginning of a brand new era. Funny just typed error and corrected (I hope not). LOL

I wouldn't mind seeing Matthews go off tonight in his hometown and then partying at his condo complex later on...oh wait scratch that second part.

Part of the reason, I think, is that they have three guys on their first defense pairing.

Maybe this is one of the new ideas Keefe will implement.

More gold stars to all of you.

Some obvious changes right off the bat: Hyman moves to RW. Mikheyev gets bumped to the top-6. Kerfoot's back, but on the LW with Spezza sticking at 3C for now. Engvall and Petan on the 4th line over Timashov and Shore.

Nothing new on the defence other than the late changes Babcock tried.
