Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (13-7-1, 2.79 GAA, .918 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?Lines are based on what we saw at practice on Monday. Matthews gets Hyman and Brown as his wingers while Nylander slots in on the 4th line
?Rielly's gone 5 straight games without a point now. Prior to that he was on pace to score 70 points so a cooldown was probably inevitable
?Nylander has 2 assists in his last 2 games but has just 1 goal in his past 17 games
?Kadri had his 9-game point streak snapped against Washington

CGY
?Mike Smith (11-7-1, 2.65 GAA, .922 Sv%) will likely start for the Flames
?A red-hot Johnny Gaudreau has caught up to Nikita Kucherov and the two are currently tied for 2nd in the league in points with 34 in 23 games. Gaudreau has 19 points in 11 games in the month of November (including 15 in his last 8 GP)
?His centre isn't Steven Stamkos but Sean Monahan isn't too far behind with 26 points in 23 games. Monahan's November has been almost as impressive with 16 points in 11 games (10 in his last 5 GP)
?The ageless wonder Jaromir Jagr has a respectable 6 points in 14 games so far this season
?Smith and Hamonic were Calgary's two big trade acquisitions this summer. One has worked out while the other hasn't, and the results haven't been what many people expected. 35-year old Mike Smith seems to have rebounded nicely as he currently sports a 0.922 save percentage
?Travis Hamonic was supposed to give Calgary arguably the best defence in the league but his play and pairing with Brodie have struggled. He has just 3 points in 20 games, a CF% just under 50%, and a GF% of 40%. He's averaging about 2 minutes less per game a night in November than he was in October and the Flames have been better off because of it
?One final note: Curtis "best prospect in hockey" Lazar has 0 goals and 2 assists in 16 games this season
Injuries

?Nathan Horton - Back - Out indefinitely
?Joffrey Lupul - Actually Injured - Out indefinitely
Code:

?Kris Versteeg - Lower Body - Questionable Tuesday

Matt Stajan is probably going to score against us again, and I won't even be mad. Ideally, he'll inside-out Polak into spinning out into Andersen's pads, and tuck a backhander in around the post.

Big bad flames, time to play our Neanderthals. I would like to see Bozak and Leo held accountability for being virtual non-factors this season. Depth is good but we need contribution as well... a draft pick and a look at a kid may be an improvement.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/the-great-race-komarov-proves-he-s-faster-than-kadri~1271360

Kadri and Komarov have been chirping each other for weeks about who is the faster skater.

Now to see who is faster backwards.

First Nylander shift, he slips on an entry but still refuses to leave the puck for Martin, ends up with the puck in deep and weaves through every Flame and Leafs and slings a good shot at the net.

You'd think that sooner or later some of those are going to start going in.

He?s still firing from beyond the circles too much, rather than digging in for a more dangerous shot (this isn?t basketball so there?s no bonus for distance).

For a team that is 6 games above .500 and supposedly a skilled team it's kind of hard to understand why the team only has 76 powerplays (22nd in the league) vs. 84 penalty kills (9th most in the league).  They sure as hell aren't a physical team.

Willy just cutting through all night, but he has no one to pass to and has to solo everything. He?s got that hometown game boost going.

Would you say that he is a scoundrel that has a wookie for a co-pilot?
