I don't like Carlyle either but was Wilson better?  Is there even such a thing as a good coach for this team?  Are they uncoachable?

The results may not have been better, but my memory is the team never consistently played this brutal under Wilson.  Or Maurice, or Quinn, etc.

You forgot Washington.

They just won, so they're in the top 3 in the Metro.

Carlyle has a ring.  Phaneuf, Kessel, JVR, Lupul etc don't. But Carlyle's to blame. Interesting.

He's just trolling us now, right?

Maybe Carlyle can convince Niedermayer to come out of retirement and Pronger to be less injured.

Using that criteria has any coach ever deserved credit for a Stanley Cup win? I don't think anyone is going to be sitting around in 20 years speaking with awe about the talent assembled on the 06-07 Ducks.

Incredible how this team seems to have just lost all sense of playing.  Carlyle looked dumbfounded and pained behind that bench.  Get the impression that the players are playing as though they're not listening to him anymore, at all, in fact.

If Carlyle is fired, and the team plays better, in all areas including efforts made, that will tell the tale, so to speak.

What happened to the optimism we all had for this team?  Seems so shattered now.  :(

Other than an initial shake-up, does anyone really think replacing Carlyle will benefit this team in the long term?

I never watched last night for the first game this season. I checked in and saw 2-0, then 4-1, then I got up and saw the final score, and am glad I gave up. I think I will watch reruns of all the crap they have on tv now days, and stay away from the game until I hear Carlyle is fired.

A coaching change will send them on a big win streak, and you can hold me to that statement.

If it means we start using systems that actually play to the team's strengths, then yes.

I'm starting to feel nostalgic about the days seemingly long ago when I could bitch about getting a cheap 2 points in the shootout.

I'll tell you, though, the Leafs are giving me a lot of extra free time these days because I'm able to fast forward through vast stretches of PVR'd games.  A game in 20 minutes is becoming the norm.
