Game Notes

TOR
?Andersen (36-20-5, 2.81 GAA, .917 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs
?On back-to-back's Andersen typically gets the 1st game but Babcock might decide to save him for the much tougher Jets on Saturday night instead. We'll see
?No, that's not a typo, Connor Carrick skated on the 3rd pair at practice on Thursday and it's expected he'll play against the Islanders. Polak will likely draw back in on Saturday
?Komarov took part in a full practice on Thursday. Babcock said that he'll return to the line-up on Saturday so he won't be playing on back-to-back nights. It's expected he'll replace Johnsson when he comes back in

NYI
?Halak (19-26-6, 3.24 GAA, .906 Sv%) will likely start for the Islanders
?The Islanders are wrapping up a disappointing season that will see them miss the playoffs for the 3rd time in the past 5 years. They have just 3 wins in their past 17 games
?Tavares is still doing all that he can with 15 points in his last 13 games
?Josh Bailey's dream season isn't ending quite as well as it started. After scoring a ridiculous 62 points in his first 55 games he has just 7 in his last 18
?Mathew Barzal however is maintaining his point-per-game season with 25 in his last 23 games. He leads all rookies in scoring and has essentially locked up the Calder trophy this year

That's former Leafs prospect Chris Gibson getting the start for the Islanders. Gibson went to New York in the Grabner trade. His AHL stats since leaving are pretty ho-hum but he's got a .917 Sv% this season in 7 games with the Islanders.

I'm still gonna watch but it's hard to get fired up when the games are meaningless. Bring on the first round already! [emoji1][emoji854]

With the playoffs mathematically locked in, Babcock is going to start resting select players down the stretch.

Tonight: Carrick and Moore come in, Plekanec and Polak out.

Komarov is due to return tomorrow.

Babcock also mentioned Andersen will likely see some extra time off.

Almost every shift he's on the ice Kapanen does something that makes you sit up and go "wow." I can easily see him taking JVR's spot. He won't score as many goals but he's more responsible defensively and his speed will make space for his linemates. Put a decent center between he and Marner and it could be pretty darn fun to watch.
