Leafs @ Oilers - Dec. 14th, 9:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Considering it was his first game, I thought Mikheyev looked good. Broken thumb definitely didn't affect his wheels.  ;D

I love him but have realistic expectations. He certainly adds some versatility and options for line combos.
Mikheyev - Kampf - Kase seems like a pretty good line to me. This keeps Kerfoot up in the top-6, where he belongs.

He looked good. Made some nice plays. It's going to take him a while to get back into game shape though. We'll see where he ends up but I think he's going to get a look in the top 6 at some point and a good look on PP2.

So, literally right after the game. Okay.

This whole season has a chance of going completely off the rails at any time now. Just when this team looks like it finally has a solid mix of offence, defence and goaltending. *fingers crossed*

I'm fine if we give him some time in the top 6 but it's really hard to see him being remotely as productive as Bunting, Kerfoot or Kase when they have had that opportunity.  Maybe if he suddenly developed a scoring streak it would work but I just don't see his game as a high skill scoring forward.  It's too bad because he's probably fine as the 3rd wheel due to his defensive ability and speed but I think we just have better options now.

A Kase-Kampf-Mikheyev line really does interest me though as I think this is by far the best 3rd line we have had in the last few years.  Kase and Kampf especially get into dirty areas and Mikheyev's penchant for shooting at the net and not scoring might generate more dirty goals with the way those two drive the net.

I don't think we have to worry about the season falling apart...the NHL just might benefit from taking a slight pause...the year would still be ahead of schedule as long as they can fit games in through the 3 week Olympic pause.

Also nothing like being 1st in the league in points, T-1st in Regulation Wins, 1st in ROWs, 6th in goals for, 11th in goals against, 6th in goals for/goals against, 5th in point percentage......and currently on pace to play on the road in the first round of the playoffs.

This.  It's hard to imagine that he'll suddenly learn how to score.  We've been hoping for that from much more skilled people (initials, MM) and it hasn't happened.

I didn't see the game, just reading it here this AM, BC time and what strikes me are all the comments about Holl being the same train wreck as ever.  We have to let this guy sit for a while or trade him.

I've been pretty quiet on Holl, but he objectively wasn't good. I thought Ceci -- on the Oilers -- was much better.

I think to be going into games against highly potent offensive teams like Edmonton while down some key players and being able to play to our structure and claim a 5-1 win is another good sign in the evolution of this team.

Move the puck Holl...man he's brutal

It's a day later and I know what play you're referring to.  ;D
It's one of his biggest issues...holding onto the puck too long.

His confidence is in shambles and so it's understandable ? you essentially freeze up out of fear of making a mistake, and then that becomes the mistake.

Not sure what the way out is for him.  We know he can play better than this.
