I wonder if Tkachuk goes the distance with the contract thing, or perhaps an opportunity spins up where Ottawa helps broker a Tarasenko three team trade

STL: Tkachuk, stuff
Ottawa: Kravstov, high picks, stuff
NYR: Tarasenko, stuff

Well props to Ottawa for getting him to agree to 7 years, I thought for sure he'd be looking at a short-term one and then dipping. That AAV sure explains how they managed to get to 7 though.

I think he gets traded before his NMC kicks in, just like everyone else who signed long term in Ottawa

Lot of money for a player who has never cracked 50 points in a season. ;D

In his defence he would have probably gotten there in an 82-game season in this past one (barely).

Lot of money for a player who might have barely cracked 50 points if he played 82 games. :P

That's better.

Or perhaps just next year

Brady has zero puck over glass penalties in the postseason.  Marner is useless.  Fire Dumbas, hire Dorion (I mean honestly I would take Dorion in the organization).

Yeah waiting for this to come through

I think at this point there are two things about the Marner contract that are indisputably true.

1. It was probably a little too high for the value he brings.

2. The extent to which #1 is true has been overstated by a magnitude of several thousand, both by people who hate the Leafs, people who know criticizing the Leafs draws clicks and Leafs fans who feel a need to obsess over every bump in the road.

I wonder if that's the modus operandi...

Something similar works for the Rays in baseball.
