These awards are usually a train wreck, but by goodness did the NHL just nail that Humboldt tribute, not a dry eye in the house.

The last Hart Trophy winner that wasn't with the team that drafted them was Joe Thornton in '05-'06.

Josh Manson received a 4th and 5th place vote for the Norris. Someone thought Chara was the 3rd best defenceman and Dougie Hamilton received a 2nd place vote.

Aren't these ballots supposed to be made public this year? Can't wait.

Also somebody put Hall down as a centre when filling out their all-star team ballot. Whoever did that should probably just come out and admit it was a simple mistake before people find out on their own.

Per @JeffVeillette, the following writers didn't have McDavid on their ballot at all for the Hart:

David Shoalts was the one who did this. He listed Hall as both his top left winger and centre. Somehow not really that surprising.
