NHL Waivers Thread

Sam Gagner on waivers?

5 points in 18 games this year. Probably not a great fit for the Flyers, but his cap hit of $3.2M (and his salary of $5M) means it's unlikely he gets claimed.

Put him on the reclamation project list for next year.

Jakub Kindle placed on waivers. I imagine he will be claimed by someone.

Is it me or does it seem like there's been a kind of an odd lack of waiver claims being made. Nobody wanted Kindl?

Contracts are playing a big part in it. No one wants to take on cap without sending some back.

Nashville has placed Cody Hodgson on waivers.

What happened to CH? In 5 seasons, up to and including 2013/14, he had a shooting % of about 11.5%. He also had seasons of 16 and 20 goals, and was on a 30-goal pace in the lockout season. In the past 2 seasons his shooting percentage has been 4.7 and 4.6 (this season), with 6 goals last season 3 so far this year.

I remember he had so much potential, but now is he even a reclamation project?

Of course I say that and the Coyotes claim Kevin Connauton from Columbus.

Bryan Bickell on waivers this morning:

I didn't realize that Bickell was that bad this year - 2 points in 23 games, $4mil cap hit this year and next.

He's a player that fits the 'taking back salary' mold, wonder how desperate Chicago is to move him?

He's an interesting potential reclamation project. If the Hawks are willing to throw in something worthwhile for the Leafs to take him off their hands, and the coaching staff can help him find his game next season, they could cash in on him twice.

Yeah, that would be ideal. Chicago has 640k in space right now too ( from general fanager ) and need to make some room for Shaw... doesn't look like the cap will go up by much either.

Hossa's back-end diving deal pays him a real money drop to $4mil next season (from the $7.9m this season), and $1mil in 17-18.  His production has dropped off this year, but I doubt he retires from a $4mil paycheque next season...so no relief there until 17-18.

They really do need someone to take on Bickell.

Vancouver has placed Brandon Prust on waivers. I wonder if the Flames will take a look.

Looking at Prust's numbers, it's crazy how much his SH% (last column) varies from year to year.
