NHL13

Happy Gilmore ‏@_Happy_Gilmore
NHL '13 has a new "Be A Commissioner" mode. You take the disc, smash it with a hammer and no one gets to play.

Rielly and Finn are there for me.

Did you drop anyone from the roster before you started?

Have you found Owuya or Ryan? I can't find them. They were removed completely from last years roster update so I doubt they're there.
Have you tried updating the rosters? I played a game online so I think they auto updated and Reilly is there, picture and all. Finn is an unsigned prospect.

Oh and no I did not drop anyone.

I know Ryan played ( well mind you.. with 23pts in 32 games and a 20% shooting accuracy ;) ) on the RR last year for the majority of the season... Idk if it has to do something with contract issues between EA Sports and the ECHL... I had read something like that on this board a couple years ago..

He's signed by the Leafs though. Doesn't that make him a member of the NHLPA, or do you have to play a game first? Also, how come guys like Matt Caruana and Drew Paris are still there?

Re: Gameplay in Practice Mode

I like how the defensive player has to clear the puck now for the play to stop, as opposed to just touching it. Much better.

So i have had every NHL game since '96. But NHL 13 is really giving me trouble. I basically suck - which I dont. But I am getting beat in all areas. Its so frustrating. Its as if all my online opponents have some sort of super boost. Any team I chose is so slow compared to my online opponent. I wonder if I am doing anything wrong? Should I amp all my settings - full attack, full forecheck??

I was in the same boat as you up until last weekend. I used to dominate at the NHL games but this new one is much different.

I think it's just a matter of unlearning the things that used to work in the old games and finding the new tricks. I find the skating momentum is crucial in the new game.

It is just so frustrating having ur behind handed to you all the time. Half of the time I just end up quitting out of sheer anger. Then of course I have to put up with the endless hate messages lol

Also I can never find anybody on my skill level (which is pretty low by now). I squally end up playing opponents 5 levels ahead of me.

Weird. I was always awesome at NHL games, from NHLPA 93 up until NHL 11 and 12, I just sucked and couldn't score for whatever reason. I'm finding NHL 13 awesome, I can score, I can win and it's just way more fun. Kessel, and even Grabovski, are both near unstoppable in the slot.

So I'm playing Be a GM mode and I have no idea how I was able to pull off all these trades, but heres, the lineup of the Leafs so far this season. It's still a work in progress, but it's very close to being a juggernaught for a long time.

Van Riemsdyk - Datsyuk - Kessel
Sven Baertschi - P. Kane - Sven Andrighetto (85 rating)
Nazem Kadri - Vincent Lecavalier  - Matt Frattin
Marcus Messier - Nathan MacKinnon - Alex Galchenyuk

Morgan Rielly - Jake Gardiner
Henrik Tallinder - Jesse Blacker
Stuart Percy - Olli Maata

Reimer
Ellis

I also somehow drafted a bunch of good players, and amassed first round picks like a crazy person Example: I drafted Mackinnon, Barkov, Domi, Andrighetto in Rd 1 of 2013 with the picks I amassed. If I remember any other prospects I drafted/acquired I'll post again.

You're my GM choice when Nonis is fired. Forward this thread to MLSE

Anyone know how to get rid of players from your AHL roster in GM mode?  I've got all these young guys I'm trying to play on the AHL team, but there's a huge roster of players I never signed or picked up (assume it's done automatically) and I have no idea how to release them.  They don't show up on my roster movements pages.

You can't. Just hope they get signed as free agents somewhere else, or you could sign and trade them if you have the contract room and don't care about your GM rep.

To me this is a huge miss by EA. They give you the option to control your AHL affiliate but don't let you control the roster. They should give you the ability to sign and release players on AHL contracts, and stop duplicating AHL players in free agency.

Damn.  Yeah, it's really annoying to change the lines every time someone in the AHL gets hurt and automatically all those guys are scratched again.  Oh well.

How deep are you into GM mode? Sometimes if you start the mode with a pretty full roster, the game will drop those players from your team automatically. Is this one of those times where the game automatically filled out your AHL roster because of injury or retirements? In my season, Mark Owuya got hurt and Brent Kranh appeared from nowhere and was starting games over Rynnas.

I somehow swiped a whole bunch of top prospects from multiple teams, but I kept claiming guys on waivers to turn over the roster come trade deadline time. The computer automatically dropped Galchenyuk on waivers... and obviously he was plucked.

Needless to say, I reset the game.

Yup. I've had stuff like that happen to me as well. Honestly the rosters are such a mess. If EA spent half as much time improving the way rosters work as they do on broken stick animations, that game would be awesome.
