I think Luongo and Schultz are total possibilities.

The others not so much.

Personally, as I suggested in the Luongo thread, I think Luongo to the Leafs is pretty much a foregone conclusion. But that is using one of my magic beans. I still have one or two left.

I think it was as simple as whether Burke wanted Luongo or not after Yzerman said he wasn't interested.

I think you can take it further than that.

When your hear Burke repeat himself about how this team is a veteran goalie away from being a playoff team.

When you hear Rick Dudley's parting words about the importance of the Leafs acquiring a veteran goaltender

http://www.thestar.com/sports/leafs/article/1190417--rick-dudley-leaves-toronto-maple-leafs-for-montreal-canadiens-assistant-gm-role.

When you hear about the second best available veteran goalie in Tomas Vokoun going to Pittsburgh for a mere 7th rounder you can certainly draw some pretty strong conclusions.

If you read and listen enough you can read between the lines on what the Leafs intend on doing. To me all signs point to Roberto becoming the Leafs netminder next season. No question in my my that that is their intent. Of course these things often have a way of falling apart at the last minute so you never know for sure until its official but..

It was reported the Leafs were offered the same deal for Vokoun that went down with Pittsburgh and the Leafs didn't bite so Vokoun might have been a plan B but he wasn't their man.

I think it's also because Pittsburgh were willing to give him the 2nd year.  Leafs only wanted him on a 1 year deal...

I must admit I will be pretty disappointed if Burke doesn't land at least ONE (or possibly two) of these players this summer...(I realize some are real long shots)

- Justin Schultz
- Roberto Luongo
- Jordon Staal
- Zach Parise
- Rick Nash
- Ryan Suter
- Nail Yakupov

I'll be pretty disappointed if Burke doesn't land at least all of them.

Yes. and to get them, he better not trade any picks or players I like either.  >:(

I could fold up my 'disappointment' tray, throw my magic beans out the window, and head for home.

Some of those are more realistic than others. I wouldn't at all be disappointed if we picked Galchenyuk and not Yakupov.

I'm more hoping for Strong Vet goaltender, goobye Komisarek, some more shuffling and more kids on the team. Those specific players don't really bother me, if I didn't get a hold of them, but of course it would be nice to land a couple of them.

I want nothing to do with Rick Nash

I'm a big fan and would love to see him a Leaf. I've argued the case for him in the past but I'm feeling now that the cost would be far too prohibitive.

That's always been the real issue there. The acquisition cost plus the cap complications outweigh the benefits of adding a Rick Nash type talent to the line-up.

I think Boston might be a real player in the Nash sweeps. Kerjci/Lucic/Marchand/Caron/Hamilton.... Two or three of those pieces should get it done and could really help both teams.
