Official Ottawa Senators Thread

Great day for Sens fans and lord knows there hasn't been too many of those lately. Still think we're a good shot to finish ahead of the Leafs again and when your favorite team is operating with an internal budget that's about all you can ask for. Speaking of Kessel - did any of his several chins take any damage paintballing the other day?

He didn't participate.  He got a stomach ache after eating a bunch of them before the match because he thought they were candy.  It's ok though.  Colton Orr punched  the canister a few times for retribution.

I heard the Sens were supposed to join the Leafs today but they couldn't afford the bus fare to Wasaga.

No no -  Melnyk wanted them to jog there as their team building. It just happened to be a paintball facility.

So, the same as every team?

How many teams employ a "corsi whisperer" again?

That's true. Employing stats gurus is the kind of luxury and excess that it's unfair to expect Ottawa to be able to compete with. Things there aren't nearly as ritzy as in Edmonton.

Make all the Kessel jokes you want. You're right. It's embarrassing that we spend all of the money we do on our overprivileged players when we could use some of that money to sponsor a hungry Sens player for only the price of a cup of coffee a day.

"Little Erik has to dig through trash for hours a day just to find the rest of his team's defense."

Maybe Kessel will eat that Clarkson contract everybody's so happy about?

Hey, I'm as concerned about it as you are. If Kessel puts on another fifty or sixty pounds he might get so slow and useless that Bobby Ryan will get within 30 points of him.

Kessel will be lucky if he gets out of October without needing angioplasty.

Well, if that is the case. I'm confident that despite the rivalry the Sens fans would be willing to kick in a dollar to a fund for him. You know, if they had dollars. Or fans.

If only we were a dysfunctional gong show also...then maybe we'd have the liewekes / the stats gurus / the zombie fans / 1 playoff series in over a decade. Well, we know what it takes I guess just don't expect us to train in the summer.

Yeah, I guess you're lucky that nobody expects that. For starters, Gongs can run, like, 15-20 bucks.

You can really slip in some influential subliminal messages under the steady bang of a gong - especially the aforementioned high end $15-20 ones.

Nice trash exchange.  This one made me smile.  And Nik's gong price one.

At the end of the day I'd still rather be tolerant of futility than take all the pride you do in mediocrity.

Opening day roster announced...http://senators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=733164  Good for Lazar but I imagine he'll be sent to Bingo by game 10. They'll give him a chance to rip up the AHL and boost his confidence...B-Sens are one of teams to beat again this season.
