Hysterical mother worried that the daughter she fully believes was raped isn't going to get the justice that she deserves?

Yeah, that too. Not the most professional way to handle things. It's starting to feel like he wasn't well equipped to handle such a high profile case.

Hysteria makes people do stupid things, but this blows a massive hole in her daughter's case and now that it's been made public, is probably going to taint people's perception of the accuser, justified or not.

It doesn't, unless they find evidence she was involved in it. What might blow a hole in her case is that the other girl that went home with them is now reluctant to corroborate the accuser's story and testify in court.

Captain Canuck said:What I don't understand is how someone who has been practising law for quite some time in Erie County wouldn't know that rape kits for that area are in boxes and not bags? My best guess is that Mr. Eoannou doesn't have experience with rape cases, otherwise he would know that. The other thing is why would you hire a lawyer who isn't familiar with the type of crime at hand, in this case rape?

Keep in mind we're talking about the side that isn't representing a guy making 8 figures a year. We don't know much about the accuser here but it might be that they can't simply hire any lawyer they way.

The way he handled some of his press conferences, especially the late ones relating to the evidence bag made him seem like he was of the ambulance chaser quality of lawyer. I mean his whole discussion on the evidence bag was centered on his discussions with "former prosecutors and law enforcement officers". Seems like it would have been a pretty easy thing to call up the DA office and ask what the hell is going on before you run out and have a press conference to declare a travesty of justice.

Kobe Bryant and Ben Roethlisberger seem to be doing just fine. In 5 years (or less) the casual fan won't have any idea this even happened.
Patrick said:Of course, but on a personal level, I'm sure he'll get it thrown in his face a lot and I'm sure that wouldn't be good for anyone's mental health.
Also, I don't get this kind of flippant attitude about it, maybe your comment just came off that way. Had your comment been directed at the girl who it now appears wrongly accused Kane, would that be okay too?
Sorry if I misjudged your comments intended tone.

I really don't know if I was flippant or not, I just don't think Kane deserves any sympathy. He'll be fine. And I've said all along how I feel about this regardless of if Kane actually gets charged or not (and again I've said all along he probably won't be). One of these two individuals is going to be a lot more effected by this situation for the rest of their lives and it isn't going to be Kane.
