Pens vs Isles

I wonder if maybe Fleury's repeated playoff flops force them to consider approaching the Nyucks about Luongo.

Maybe they could make a straight swop, Luongo for Fleury. Both have been playoff busts.

One guy won a Cup, clinching it with an incredibly clutch save on Nicklas Lidstrom. The other guy made it to Game 7 of the finals.

Well, Pittsburgh fans, have the Islanders got your team's tail!  :D

Speed and winning the puck battles is what helped the Islanders to a convincing 6-4 victory over the suddenly-in-trouble Penguins.
Tavares, Czizikas, Streit, Okposo had several points apiece while Malkin, Neal, Crosby countered for the visitors, before a boisterous & frenzied crowd at the Brooklyn arena.

The series is now tied at 2 games apiece.

Oh yes, a helping hand from Fleury, not to take anything away from the Islanders goals, but #29 has been less than stellar in this series.  Don't be surprised if Vokoun makes his playoff debut for the Pens at home for Game 5.  A change of netminder won't be the only tonic the Penguins need.  The Islanders made short work of their defense and exposed Pittsburgh's flaws in the games that New York has won so far in this series.

So far, so good! WAY TO GO, ISLANDERS!!!

Sorry didn't see you there!  It actually does make some sense if they can make the cap hit work.  Team Canada 2006 lives!

Statistically, this is his *best* save percentage in a playoffs since going to the first finals against Detroit in 2008.

Through 3 games, sure - 2 of which he's posted a Sv% of .905 or lower.

1 excellent, and 2 sub par games, absolutely...but this isn't the same level of effort he had last playoffs.

Or the same quality of opponent.

I take that last bit back. Wow, what a brutal effort.

Yeah, if Fleury keeps this up, Pens aren't going to get out of the first round.

Would Fleury for Luongo work from a cap situation? I thought the Pens were going to cap hell next season....

I can see Pittsburgh interested in Luongo, but I can't see why Vancouver would want Fleury.

That last goal was especially brutal. Why did Fleury back so far into his net like that? THere was no need on that play, and, it really lead to him deflecting the puck in himself. Once the pressure rises, Fleury just falls apart.

There's absolutely no reason for him to be inside his net there. If he's guarding the post like a normal goalie, that one doesn't go in off him.
