Jhonas Enroth's return to Buffalo will be the big news. No Matthews. so far, no Babs.

I thought Holland looked really good on Nylander's wing. If he can push himself to playing a heavier net-front game, I think he'll have a good deal of success (similar to JvR's growth). I know he's closer to his peak than others, but if he wants to stick to the Leafs this year, that's his path.

He has the skill and speed to complement any one of our skilled centers, and the size to augment a line's impact. He just needs the wherewithal to do so consistently.

Possible D Paurs tonight:
Nielsen-Hunwick
Gardiner-Corrado
Valiev-Carrick

That's two games now that Gardiner and Corrado have been paired together. It could mean nothing at all. Or everything. Or something in between.

Timashov-Bozak-Marner
So who is going to shoot the puck?

Leivo-Nylander-Brown
Oh, these guys.

I actually think that Bozak-Marner could be slightly reminiscent of Bozak-Kessel. Just in the sense that when Marner gains entry into offensive zone with the puck he can often draw players towards him, and that could open up room for Bozak who for whatever reason has a real knack for being in the right place at the right time.

We might have gotten this answer from other teams but it'll be interesting to see how teams handle getting World Cup guys into the pre-season.

I think they should swap Timashov and Leivo in these lines.

Bozak is an underrated shooter, but all three on that line are pass-first (unless Marner's mandate is shoot more). They'll have no problem gaining the zone, and can probably cycle for awhile, but they'll be largely relying on the defense to make point shots due to their size.

Nylander's line is running two not-quite-fast puck-digger/shooters on the wings so we'll probably see him camped in the high slot once he gains the zone. Timashov off the half boards would help draw attention away from Nylander and get a lefty into the mix for transition speed.

I agree in theory but I wouldn't get too worked up about these yet. I mean the odds of Nylander starting the season at centre are pretty much non-existent anyway.

New lines make way more sense for both the Leafs (top-6) and the Marlies (bottom-6).

Holland-Bozak-Marner
Greening-Nylander-Brown
Prust-Laich-Kapanen
Clune-Gauthier-Timashov

Gardiner-Carrick <3<3
Nielsen-Hunwick
Valiev-Corrado
