Ok, sort of hockey.

No word yet on who the Leafs are sending to Ottawa, but expect maybe a quarter of the line-up to the actual NHLers.

The sens, being the home team, have a few NHLers on their released game roster: Anderson, Phaneuf, Ceci, Oduya, Chabot, Ryan, Burrows, Smith, Pageau, Stone, and Hoffman. That's balanced out by 10 players from their rookie tournament playing.

YAYYYYYY HOCKEY! Predicting 8-0 preseason, 82-0 regular season, 16-0 postseason and minimum 12-peat.

Lines, per Mark Masters:

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Kapanen-Mueller-Soshnikov
Martin-Moore-Fehr
Leivo-Aaltonen-Brown

Rielly-Hainsey
Dermott-Liljegren
Rosen-Carrick

Sparks, McElhinney

Looking forward to seeing Dermott-Liljegren paired together. That could very well be the Marlies top D pairing this season. The Kap-Mueller-Sosh line could also be the Marlies' top forward line.

I really don't know what they're planning on doing with Brown here.

That Aaltonen line actually looks pretty serviceable as a sheltered scoring option when Bozak and JvR and Komarov are traded.

Dermott - Liljegren looked great at the rookie tournament together. Would be good to see Rosen - Carrick as our bottom pairing this year too.

I swear it was like a week ago where people were effectively declaring Sosh's brains to be liquified goo leaking out his ears.

But, you know, if Ottawa is playing Bobby Ryan...

So there's 3 jobs up for grabs this camp?

Hyman - Matthews - Nylander
Marleau - Kadri - Komarov
JVR - Bozak - Marner
Martin - Moore - Brown
Leivo - _______

Rielly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Zaitsev
_______ - Carrick
_______

Andersen
McElhinney

Do you have to carry a full 23 man roster? Because I can't think of anyone who's a natural choice for that 14th forward spot.

Too bad we *have* to play Martin when we have so many better players.  We could have a 4th line that could actually put a fright into the 4th lines of other teams such as:

Komorov - Moore - Kapanen

(with Brown up on Kadri's line)

Could be that they just keep a guy like Fehr or Smith up. Although in the past Babs seems to have favoured keeping 8 defencemen and 13 forwards .

Could be...and I really have to think Marincin would have to be outplayed significantly to not have one of the 2 or 3 spots.

Yeah I think it's pretty safe to say Marincin is a lock for the roster, it's not just clear if he's the number 6 or 7 guy.

Why Hyman on the first line? WHHHYYY? We are deep enough to bypass a 10 goal scorer playing on our 1st line?

I agree...and I also have to think that Soshnikov gets the 14th spot over Ben Smith, again, if both play the way they have historically.

I think Kapanen is call-up insurance with the Marlies, given waiver status.

Soshnikov is still waiver exempt, if he's not one of the 12, he should be getting lots of minutes on the Marlies.

I did not know that.  Maybe then Ben Smith sits in the box?

I don't look to much into lines and combinations at this point. Everyone knows preseason is for getting ready for Oct. 4th and not getting injured. I'm interested in seeing a lot of these new faces.
