Neither of these teams closed out the season particularly strong, but the Devils won't be able to overcome losing Hughes. Canes in 6.
 
I recall looking at the Devils roster near the start of the season. I thought it looked pretty good.
It was looking like they had the building blocks for a potential contender in a year or two.
They got off to a decent start.
Since the Four Nations, .460 hockey - worst of the playoff teams by far.
Injuries were definitely a factor. Beyond that, I haven't followed them that closely except the bits on Keefe now and then.
Carolina hasn't been that hot down the stretch either but a lot better than .460.
Odds makers have Carolina heavily favored. Hard to argue with them (particularly when you don't know the teams that well).
