R1G1: Leafs @ Bruins - May 1st, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

During the games I will probably be doing the following:

Sit, stand, pace, cheer, swear, sit, stand, yell, sit, groan, pray...

And then, when they are done singing the anthems I will start to go crazy.

Fun fact:  The Bruins went 14-12-2 after starting the season 14-2-2.

Miserable fear: Bruins will wake up offensively with the return of Horton and better PP with a rested Jagr and muscle the Leafs into a fairly quick exit. I don't expect four blowout games as the Leafs are better than that and have been competitive with them this season. I just think the Bruins are overdue to wake up and I suspect they've just been going through the motions until the playoffs.

I hope I'm wrong but I can't get seem to conjure up a good feeling about this series.

I'm going the Full Nutty on this one.  First playoffs in 9 years, hockey brain is going on vacation, hockey heart is taking over.  I'm like a teenager with a case of beer, a bottle of vodka, and an empty house for the weekend.  When all is said and done, there may be a lot of vomit and potato chip crumbs to clean up, there may be a few holes in the walls, I may feel like crap when it's all over, but dammit I'm going to party like it's 1993.

Heroic Shrimp does not condone excessive drinking or underage drinking.  Heroic Shrimp recommends enjoying hockey with a nice soft drink or glass of milk.  Any implication that this playoff run will be comparable to the epic 1993 playoff run is purely hopeful and not intended to convey any sense of reality.

I'm not really sure how I used to deal with the nerves.  Judging by the nerves I've had in close/OT games this season that weren't even the playoffs, I will likely be a nervous wreck for every second.

Fun fact:  Bruins were 1-3 in OT this year, Leafs were 2-0.

So, forget what the mutual fund companies tell you.  Past performance IS indicative of future results.  Always.  No need to be nervous, my friend.

Grabovski has had some success against the Bruins before man would it be nice for him to get his offsensive game going, especially if Bozak is not available or 100%.

I thought he's shown signs of offensive life the last couple weeks.  He's seemed to have an extra gear than he had most of the season, even if it wasn't translating to points.

My wife & daughters already have the Leafs flags and memorabilia on display. The liquor cabinet and fridge are stocked. No matter the results or rational predictive thoughts, we'll be rabidly cheering them on like it's 1967!!

I'm with you. I'm not sure how to prepare for the playoffs anymore.

a small pasta meal around noon followed by a 1 hour nap, another hour of stretching followed by indoor soccer, finally a big glass of Coke mixed with coffee and you are good to go...

In the interests of not wanting to ruin everyone's good time, I'm not going to post again until the Leafs' playoffs are over.

So for whatever it's worth,

Go Leafs Go

I think Grabovski could totally be a wild-card for the Leafs in this series, but if that's what anyone is counting on to win, we're in trouble.

I'm 100 per cent on the "Please, please get well soon, Bozak" train.

My playoff game day routine:

Get early at work, due to almost no sleep in the night before.
Read everything Leaf vs Bruins relate until noon.
Pretend to work or listen to non Leaf talk
Refresh twitter (added this year), tmlfans.ca.
Abandon work as early as possible, after all I got there early.
Drive like a maniac to get home with at least 1 hour before puck drops.

And... Game on.

I started a job, working nights, at a local newspaper in the fall of 2004. Fortunately(?), I have never had to miss a Leafs playoff game because of this. Until now.

I will PVR the game and hope to avoid the score, but that's very hard to do in the newsroom of a daily paper during the regular season. I imagine the playoffs will be another matter.

This is gonna suck!

This person makes good videos.

Let's hope he can put together an emotional playoff video in 2 months.

Wow, that Frattin goal against Buffalo seems like an eternity ago.  Maybe he can turn it around at some point in the playoffs.

OK I am pumped up for the playoffs for the first time after watching this.
They should seriously play that in the locker room before the game Wednesday.

My thoughts while watching:
How important that start was from Frattin.  While Kessel had trouble getting going, he was a scoring machine.
Kadri was the best player in the league for a month.  He worked hard to improve and it has paid off.
We would be nowhere without Reimer.  But Scrivens had two shutouts while Reims was injured.
Not many clips of Grabovski.  There wasn't a lot to choose from I guess.
Not many clips of McClement.  What he does so well doesn't translate to highlight reels.
Orr was an important factor this year.  I think Brown had some meaningful shifts as well.
Wish we could have Sundin in the lineup.
Overall a great video and some great memories of a successful season no matter how it turns out in the playoffs.

I stand for regular season games, not sure what I will do for the playoffs, lick the screen maybe.

Time to bust out the pre 2005 usernames! I know there are others out there!

I'm not going back to mccabebabe, though I'm not entirely against going back to my very original name hope4bryan (berard, not mccabe)
