R1G4: Bruins @ Leafs - May 8th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Despite all the doom and gloom, there's positives to look at with this club.  Just want to high-lite Jake Gardiner, this guy was unbelievable how he effortlessly moves the puck out the zone and makes the first outlet pass, usually hitting an open player with ease.  Sure he takes a lot of risks, but he's able to recover quickly with his skating ability.  He also made some real strong defensive zone plays last night, I recall him knocking Jagr off the puck on one play, which isn't that easy to do.  Hopefully he continues to develop, and a guy like Morgan Rielly in a similar mode can also develop in the next few years.  With 2 dynamic guys on the back end this could be a very good future for the Leafs.

2 offensively minded, young, rushing defencemen in the same lineup? Carlyle wouldn't let that monstrosity happen.

I'm sure most agree the series is pretty much over, but does anyone think we'll see game 6 at home?

Probably, but only because the hockey gods want to see us suffer a bit more.

He might not necessarily be the coach in a few years when Rielly is ready.

Yes because winning games is horrible.  Life must be very, very sad.

Another winnable game snatched from the jaws of victory. I do like how the well the Leafs forwards have been playing this series. Some great chances, lots of shots, and finishing alot of their checks. The defence has just been brutal though. O'Byrne over Liles still puzzles me. And Bozak keeps sticking out like a sore thumb- Kessel and Lupul need to play with him otherwise he is an albatross.

One nitpick- I don't get Carlyle's insistence on moving Kessel on a line away from Chara. Let him rise to the occasion, and, if he's stiffled, well at least that takes Chara away from the rest of the team. I think acknowledging Chara's dominance gives Chara and Boston more confidence with the advese affect plaguing Kessel and the Leafs. Just dress your most formidable lineup and stay away from the constant tinkering and matching.

There are still a lot of guys on the Bruins who were part of blowing a 3-0 series lead in 2010 - including their starting goalie. It's probably over, yeah, but a win in game 5 is certainly possible, and, if they can get a good start to game 6 without it going off the rails for periods like it did last night, who knows?

I'd rather they just lost game 5 and be done with it than stretch it to a 6th game and lose all 3 games at home.

Then again, maybe I'm just an overly pessimistic Leafs fan. I mean sure, a team that's only won 2 of their last 12 or so meetings against this team is surely going to win 3 in a row and take the series. After all, the Leafs have had nothing but fate and fortune on their side for the last 40+ years...

O'Byrne needs to take the pass away there....rediculous...I hate him again

Ummm... Krejci didn't pass the puck...

Yeah if anything he should have been more aggressive on Krejci to take the shot away. Kessel was skating back and kind of had the passer. O'Byrne was just kind of standing in between doing nothing.

Agreed, O'Byrne should have seen Kessel skating back hard to cover the other player and go right after Krejci to force him into a pass.

is there any word on how Mark Fraser is doing?

markhmasters: Carlyle says Fraser was texting with teammates this morning and is on "road to recovery"

Glad to hear he's doing ok.

Still shellshocked from last night's loss but oh well, really didn't expect them to win this series anyhow.
