Round 1: Blues (C2) vs. Blackhawks (C3)

The Hawks have had enough Stanley Cup wins recently.  Come on Blues, let's do this next game.  Don't let the Hawks get back into this series!  :P

After last night, I'll be more surprised if the Blues win the series than the Blackhawks coming back from being down 3-1.

The Blues must be thinking not this crap again.

Yeah, Game 6 will be big. If St Louis can't close it out, I think it's over for them.

I have no problem with that. Unfortunately, they didn't get specific enough with the language to limit it to those situations.

That is definitely the key; I can only assume that they looked at a sampling of offside goals that were extremely consequential and involved a key contributor to the play - and didn't consider how marginal and often the call could and would be implemented.

One of the reasons I like hockey is the flow of the game. No offense to baseball and football fans, but I tend to lose interest with the waiting in between gameplay. I'm hoping they roll this back in some fashion.

Magical.  Crushing.  Experience.  History.

Those four words best describe the Blackhawks stay alive victory in Game 6.

Toews summed it up best:
It?s a testament to our experience,? said Hawks heart-and-soul captain Jonathan Toews, ?and to the guys who haven?t been here too long to really buy in and play the right way when we?ve been in this do-or-die position these last two games. You see what can happen when we all buy in."

"We?ve got a great chance ? to find a way to survive in Game 7 here."

So folks, Game 7 goes Monday in St.Louis.

Colton Parayko puts the Blues up 2-0 in the 1st. Hell of a player. Leafs were apparently one of the few teams looking at him in the 2012 draft, but the Blues obviously were the ones to get him. Hopefully he can get some steals like that into the line-up in the next few years.

If anyone needs a stream I've got a great one for the CBC broadcast (works in the US, too).

Well, we're going to have a new Cup champion.

Good, I'm sick of the Blackhawks.

I've sort of made my peace with the fact that they're going to give Kane the Hart, I'm glad that's not compounded by the cup.

St.Louis 3  Chicago 2.  Blues win series  4 games to 3.

Finally, no more 'curse'.  No more of the 'chokers' label neither.  Just sweet victory.

One can thank Troy Brouwer,  who's goal put the Blues ahead for good in the third period.  It may not have been the prettiest goal but at least it got the job done.  It?  Well, if one describes it in golf terms, Brouwer swatted the bouncing disc in front of a prone 'hawks netminder Corey Crawford, then putted it on the second attempt  into the net.  In it's rightful place.  No over-par here.

The poor Blackhawks valiantly tried staving off elimination.  Poor?  In terms of luck, yes.  So much so, that the closest Chicago came to tying it up was to see the puck careen off one post  just millimetres outside the goalline, bouncing off of the next post behind the Blues' Brian Elliot.  Sigh.

There was probably no suspenseful playoff game in a series as there was in this particular Game 7.  Both teams were tied at the end of the second, and one could only guess on what was to come in the third period.

Great series.

Congrats to the Blues & the Blackhawks on that one.

Hear hear.

I'm fully on board with the comparisons to Kane but I really hope for my own sanity that Marner somehow -- outgrows them, for lack of a better word.
