So did the Molson family not think the Habs would make the playoffs?

If you're referring to the Saturdays off, I'd guess it has more to do with NBC wanting to sell Saturday afternoon games and there being a game/off-day/game pattern.

I'm just busting his chops.

this is my fondest wish.....this series goes seven games, the two teams beat the crap out of eachother and at least one of them obviously will be eliminated. Leaving the other to get schooled four straight in the next round. The two teams I hate the most meeting eachother in the first round, yay!

Exactly my wish too... hate both these teams exponentially!

I don't hate the teams.  You have to tip your hat to both of them because that is what you would want if the Leafs were in either of their positions.  If I am Montreal though, I am not happy about this matchup.  Hab fans should probably keep the trash talking down to a minimum because I think they are going to be on the losing end.

Montreal is going to run away with this series so fast, Ottawa's not gonna know what happened.  Ottawa is a pathetic excuse for a hockey team and the only reason they are in the playoffs are because they're runnin off cheeseburgers.  All hail to King Carey!  4-0 sweep.  Don't let the brooms hit ya on the way out of your own building that we'll outnumber you in.

As the early 2000s become a distant memory, I find it harder to find reasons to hate the Senators.

I was never a true Sens hater - but not a fan either. I typically pull for Canadian teams. But this season, given how bad the Leafs were, I'm a little taken with them. It's kind of a Cinderella thing.

I think they can beat the Habs and I think they believe that too.

With the passing of Mark Reeds, the Senator players have someone else to play for.  R.I.P. coach Reeds!

Habs say Patches Pacioretty is missing game 1 but I'm not sure if I buy it.
Not exactly enamoured with the way the TSN guys are setting up this series - Sens aren't a 1 line team...a 1 line team with 5 20 goal scorers maybe. At the same time I love the Sens in the underdog role - it suits us just fine.

I could see either team taking a 2-0 lead in the series and the other tying it up.  No idea how to call this one.

I feel this way about literally every series.  Yay parity.

The only one that I'm 100% confident about is Tampa over Detroit. So the Wings will probably win that one.

edit: ok, and Chicago over Nashville.

I think the Sens have a real chance of winning this series. However, they will have to sustain the pace they have been on for the past 30 games - we will see how long that lasts!

For anyone who thinks that Ottawa has a chance in this series, this is the Montreal Canadiens we're talking about here.

The MONTREAL...

CANADIENS.
