Senators (7) vs. Penguins (1)

Alfy ties the game, shorthanded, with 28 seconds left.

Penguins looked like they were coached by Carlyle in the last 2 minutes there.

Just watch the Sens be the Cinderella team this year and win that cup against all odds.

I would never hear the end of it. Ugh!

Good for Ottawa that they came back with the win in OT.  At least now, it's beginning to resemble some sort of series.

Interesting. Haven't watched a game since the Leafs-Bruins game 7. Then again, I had a busy work week and then a long weekend with non-hockey fan friends... :)

I still hope the Pens win this one.

I've always liked Spezza as a player, but thought he was kind of a dofus. And while that gif doesn't exactly change that, I do chuckle with him every time I've seen that.

erinnicks: Alfie when asked if they can come back. "Probably not. They have too much depth." #Sens

Love that confidence!

Those Penguins sure put on a display of how it's done -- especially when one has a line-up of all that skill --with plenty of firepower in their arsenal.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said the firing-range approach was the only way his team was going to beat Anderson."There was a sense like, ?OK, this might take as many shots as we can muster to break this guy.? And fortunately, we kept on that mindset," Bylsma said.

"I know what we?re going to do," Alfredsson said.

"We?re going to go out and play one hell of a game. That doesn?t worry me at all. We never quit and that?s not going to stop now. We know the odds are against
us in every way, but we never quit and that?s going to continue."

Brave words.  We'Il see.

Final score:  Pittsburgh 6  Ottawa 2.  Pittsburgh wins series 4 games to  1.

Ottawa may had been those "pesky "  Senators, but the Penguins could certainIy be termed formidable, as they blew away any hopes Senators may have had of winning any of
the remaining series games, by virtue of the Penguins previous victory in Game 4.

And in Game 7.  DemonstratIng why they are a team of deep depth & clutch goaltending.  It added up to more than just Crosby or Malkin.  Throw in Neal, Kuritz, Dupuis, Vokoun, et al and it all adds up.  Basically how the Penguins dominated so well the entire season, induding these playoffs.

As for Ottawa, they put on a bit of a clinic of their own defeating  Montreal in the previous series, and briefly stealing Game 3 in OT from the Penguins.  That was it though.  The rest of the results speak for themselves.

?We?re playing probably the best team in the league, and we?re trying and trying, but we have to pay for every little mistake,? Ottawa defenceman Erik Karlsson said after the series-ending 6-2 loss. ?That?s why they are where they are, and we?re standing here.?

Added Sens coach Paul MacLean: ?I hope they don?t bill us for the clinic.?

?We played a better team and sometimes there?s not much you can do,? Karlsson said.

Boy didn't they ever!
