The fans.

I really hope I am wrong, but usually when the Leafs win a game they should not have, they blow a game they should have won.  I really do hope the Leafs beat the Coyotes.

Are you implying that the 3 straight years of playoff qualifying Coyotes are a roll over / easily beatable team? If anything the 7 Coyote fans out there are wringing their hands over not blowing an easy 2 pts against the Leafs.

The Yotes are actually a well coached team but lost Vbratm to Vancouver and I would have had him on our roster in a minute. Doan as great as he still is, is entering the twilight of his career.
Smith is having a brutal time in nets and he is better than he has been showing.

The coyotes have missed the playoffs the last 2 seasons.

They're too busy looking ahead to the 4 freebie points against the Sens in January.

Playoffs schmayoffs

Kessel on jersey throwing by the Leafs faithful:

?It?s disrespectful, right?? the star winger told reporters after Wednesday?s practice. ?Not just to us but to the organization, to all of the Leafs players that have ever played for Toronto. If you want to boo us [that's alright], but you?re disrespecting all of the great players and the great teams that they?ve had before us [by tossing jerseys] here. That?s the way I look at it.

?I think that?s pretty classless to throw your jersey on the ice like that.?

?It?s not like we?re a last-place team in this league right now?I think every team gets beat bad a couple times a year.?

I kind of agree with him. On a couple of levels.

The first guy who did it, benefit of the doubt for it being spontaneous. Anyone else it kind of smacks of "Look at meeeeee!"

As for the last place team, they're not, agreed. But they're not very good either.

As much as I agree with kessel`s statement. It is disrespectful to throw jersey`s on the ice. Kids are taught that in pee wee.

It comes down to fans who drink too much or have more money they brains.

I dont' disagree.  I really don't care for people throwing stuff on the ice.  Whether it is during play or after a whistle.  I also don't care for the team not bothering to put in an effort as often as they do.  There is absolutely no reason for the Leafs to play as poorly as they did the last two games.  Bad system, sure that might keep you hemmed in your own end, but it is a complete lack of effort on a lot of plays that has resulted in a lot of the goals, and that is inexcusable.

I'm all for being a rah rah fan but it's hard to cheer for a product that consistently lets you down and then tries to pass the blame off onto the fans for not cheering harder.

Those comments by Phil drive me crazy. They guy has nothing to say to the media during losses, barely has two words to them when they win but now he has a whole paragraph to say when it comes to ripping the fans. If it's too much for you Phil, leave. Or you know, you could focus on the team and do whatever it takes to win, not just play hockey when the puck is on your stick.

Except isn't it sort of the opposite of that? I don't know who threw the jersey, neither do you. Some people in his section might but most people at a hockey game probably wouldn't notice someone throwing something onto the ice.

I don't think the team gets it both ways. You can't say that the Jersey is some sort of totemic symbol of the franchise and all of the men who earned their place on the club and then be willing to sell one to any idiot with a hundred bucks.

Man, I think about this Leafs team versus teams of the past and it blows my mind.  I'd rather have the 35yr old gary roberts over any of the top six right now.  And the players and organization say the fans are the problem.  Well maybe they are.  What other organization treats their fans as crappy as MLSE does, and still sells out.  What an abusive relationship it is.  Can't get a ticket because its too expensive but we're scumbags for protesting some of the worst hockey in toronto in decades.  sheeesh..

Who's placed blame on the fans for not cheering?

Edit: I just read the quotes from Ron Wilson. Not exactly blaming the fans, but certainly criticizing them.

Ron Wilson, for one.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/wilson-i-feel-bad-for-randy-and-the-players/

?It?s a morgue at the start of the game,? Wilson said. ?You score a couple of goals early on the Leafs and then the crowd wakes up and starts to give it to the Leafs instead of encouraging them.

?I was watching last night and at the start of the second period, all the platinum [seats] are totally empty,? Wilson said. ?It looked on TV like nobody was in the building. Everybody in Toronto talks about how bad it is in Florida, but in Toronto everyone sitting in the platinums are down in the suite drinking and they?re not even paying attention to the team. Hockey seems to be secondary, which is a shame.?

I have a stupid idea, why don't the leaf brass install speakers inside the seats in Platinum and then play cheering noise through them when all the suites are eating sushi.  May give the players a feeling that there are actually people there.

Trust your instincts.

Or but dummies in the seats or holygraphic images of people in their seats.  We have the technology and the Loafs have the  $$$ but not the sense.
