The not so dumb move list..So far.

Well now they've signed Komarov...for almost 3M for a 4th liner.

Between that and other moves (mainly keeping Carlyle and moving Gunnarsson) I have very very low expectations for the team for the next few years.  Not even sure I will watch next year, going to be ugly I think.

If he can translate some of the offensive abilities he showed in the KHL, it's a great deal. If not, it's a poor but not exceptionally bad one. Not that he was an exceptional offensive producer in the KHL, but, good enough to be a solid 3rd liner.

What worries me about that is that he scored at basically the same clip in terms of goals with Moscow the year before he first came to the Leafs so it's not like this past season he suddenly found his scoring touch.  In fact, his SH% in the KHL was the same as it was his season with the Leafs - 7.8%.  He just had 100 more shots on goal in the KHL this past season.

Sure, but, if he's capable of increasing his shot rate similarly with the Leafs, that's probably enough for him to produce at a reasonable rate for a 3rd liner.

I'm basically saying unless he scores at a better rate than the last two seasons, he's not likely touching those KHL numbers in terms of goals because only 4 Leafs fwds hit 150 shots last season and only 6 hit 100.

So for him to come close to 150 shots he'd need to be in the top 6 all season basically, which ain't happening.  Last time around he was on pace for around 100 shots in 3rd line 10-12:00 per game ES.  If he does that this upcoming season and his SH% is about the same as the past 2 seasons, you're looking at around 8-10 goals.

It's not that the Komarov deal alone is that bad or going to sink this thing, 3M is not that much money compared to 5.25M for water bottle patrol.  Hell if I was still optimistic I might just look forward to seeing what he can do for us (ie. Komisarek and Armstrong signings, although there's two of many lessons for what being optimistic about anything Leafs will get you.).

It's that none of the additions seem better than the players that are leaving, and the coaching stayed the same, so I only see this team trending further downwards.

Kulemin is now gone, so I will add this to our list as a bad moves for the leafs. Unless of course anyone out there thinks Orr can pick up his defensive game, and make us forget Kulemin was one of our better players in that area.

Kulemin was under utilized.  Making him a defensive specialist instead of an offensive player was idiotic, but he will flurish with the Islanders with Grabovski.  This just to prove how poor things are with the Leafs.

OK...  Its time to change things up. After the latest signings I think the Leafs are looking much better. As long as the face punchers are not on the team, we should ice a very solid lineup, and we have cash to spare. I like all the pieces Our GM has added, the center spot will be awesome to watch who ends up where, come preseason.

what if he doesn't flourish?

As much as I like Reimer, he asked to be traded, and I dont see him staying, but that is just me.

I think he will be traded, but unless there's a team that's high on him right now, it'll be done in season.  If Reimer gets off to a great start in October and plays really well, they'll be able to trade him before the deadline.  There may be teams looking for goalies due to injury or bad play of their own guy.

I can see Reimer, Franson and perhaps Kadri moving somewhere. Or pick any two as long as it includes Franson

I am surprised that he is still here at this time. I honestly expected him gone at the draft.
