Has anyone got a new Blackberry? If so, thoughts?

My sister's boyfriend got one, so I got a chance to play with it for a little while. It feels sort of like a hybrid between the iPhone and the Galaxy S3 - the GUI reminds me very much of iOS, with some slight adjustments. The quality of the screen/picture is great and it seems like a great business phone, but, as a consumer phone, it's still lacking in terms of available apps and such.

Wife has the Z10.  It is a very good product but I really can't get used to the size.  It's way bigger than present Torch and is a little big for carrying in pants pocket.  Thought I would hate typing on it but it is very easy to use and corrects plenty of my mistakes.  It is very fast for downloading and surfing the net as well.  Again the only issue I have with phone is the size but that is a big issue for me!!!

Looking at the Nexus 4 myself.  Anyone know if it'll be worth waiting for the Nexus 5 (supposedly May 2013) or should I dive in now?

I always say, if it's only a few months away and you don't absolutely need a new device now, it's better to wait. If nothing else, you could very well end up getting a better deal on the Nexus 4.

I had a nexus 4, its very nice, there is a way to turn on LTE as well.

I broke it about a week after I got it.

Only complaint was battery life.

If it's May, wait. Like Bustheims said, you'll get a better deal if you still decide to got with the Nexus 4.

Thanks! Luckily available apps is pretty far down my list of requirements.

If you're just using it for the basic smartphone type stuff, it's more than enough - but, then again, so is pretty much every smartphone on the market. :P

I've read good things about the ease of use/transition between functions with the new BB that sound appealing.  Plus I have a soft spot for RIM/Blackberry.

Anyone tried the new hockey manager game yet? I bought it yesterday, it's still in a beta phase though, shall be released in September if I remember it correctly. The first thing I did was to unload Komisarek and Connolly. Next up might be Kessel, because we have different ideas on what his contract shall look like ;D

I bought it but haven't had time to do much yet. I'm a little hesitant to really get involved as save games won't carry over from beta to beta.

I do look forward to it one day completely ruining my social life though.

I think those rumors were put to bed.  New Nexus won't be until the fall, they'll be refreshing the Nexus 7 though in May.  For the record, the recent Android 4.2.2 update has really improved battery life on the Nexus 4.  It used to drain even when sitting idle, now there's little to no drain when the phone is just sitting around.  I'm pleased.

Yeah, please answer, I love me some hockey manager sims.

It's called Fantasy Hockey Manager 2014. From the same guys who did the Out of the Park baseball sim games, which I've never played but heard they are fantastic. I haven't played it too much, but it's supposed to be like the commercial versions of EHM but only much better. Currently it beta with a September 3rd release date. Price was like $30 or something. You can find some more information here:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/franchise-hockey-manager/

It's for PC and Mac, but the beta for Macs aren't out yet.

Weird, didn't ootp fall under the sports interactive banner at one point, the guys behind the sensational football manager, who also tried a hockey manager game through I wanna say Risto Rhems the guy behind eastside.

That flopped despite being a solid game IMO.

That's the commercial EHM game that I referred to, yeah. I didn't play it too much, but it has a similar look and feel to this game.

I never understand technology arguements???  Someone buys the apparent best tablet and yet can't do what they want on it is smarter than the person who buys the cheaper tablet that does exactly what they want it to do???  I have a Playbook that does everything I need from the device yet plenty of people tell me that I am a dummy for buying this "piece of crap"???  Some of these people spent several times more money than me for Ipad and only use it for web and email and they think I am the dummie??  I get same message about my BB phone, not sure what I am missing??

Its not a bad product. If you're happy with what you bought thats all that matters. However, there are still ways to figure out what is. a better product and what isn't. For example app support is generally important when it comes to mobile and this is where the Playbook lacks. I agree the iPad has a highly inflated price.
