What does everyone here think of PK Subban? Toronto born kid, bright future, can't come to agreement with the Habs. Just curious as to what fans here think his value is? What would it take to get him in blue and white if his contract negotiations continue to drag on?

Our next 5 first round picks and way more money than he should get.

;D ok.

He's an awesome player. I'd love to have him, but realistically an offer sheet is the only way.

Unless the Habs can't come to an agreement and decide to shop him?

Yeah but why would they shop him to us?  ;)

True. I'm just trying to get a feel for his worth I guess. Would it take Reilly and a pick? But, you're right they would avoid a trade within their conference.

I suspect it would be something like Gardiner and a 1st.

Personally I think Gardiner will be the better player in a year or two, perhaps not as physical though.

No chance I pay that price.

I think it would take quite a bit more than that. They would have to sell that trade to their fans on top of making a good hockey deal.

Agreed. I don't like PK anyway, guy is a punk IMO. I don't like some of the things he does on the ice, which are well documented. He has toned it down a bit, but I still don't like him.

I just want Getzlaf. Please. Or someone who is an actual top line centre. 4 years of Kessel flanked by the likes of Matt Stajan/Tyler Bozak/Clarke Wilm is just such a waste.

Wilm never played with Kessel, did he?  Or did you mean like "the Clarke Wilms of the world"?

Unless it was Joey Crabb at centre, I'm pretty sure there was a stretch Kessel's first year where they were his linemates (Crabb and Wilm).  I think he finished the year with Grabovski, which is a pairing I still wouldn't be adverse to either. Kessel is a very underrated passer.

Yes, I vaguely recall kessel with Crabb.  I remember thinking at the time what was the coach thinking putting his best player with AHL guys.  It would have been better to have Kessel play with the enforcer because then at least no one would run him.

Maybe if the Leafs get Anthony it would help with getting Chris.....Kind of like Anaheim with Scott and more recently Carolina with Jordan....  :)

You're like a dog with a bone.  ;D

I think the Stewart for MacArthur train might have left the building.

;D

You're probably right WIGWAL, you're probably right.....

....ummm.....How about JVR for Chris Stewart??

A 3rd line of Komarov / Kadri / Stewart would be fantastic!

Just a thought on the lineup- I wouldn't mind seeing:

Lupul    Grabovski    Kessel
Kulemin  Kadri    Komarov
JVR      Bozak      Frattin/MacArthur

Kessel is a very underrated passer and could do some damage with Grabs. Sticking him with MacArthur and Bozak is a waste.

How many times has the Grabovski w/ Kessel experiment failed so far?

I don't know, it's not really as if they got an extended look together either.

Last year Lupul-Bozak-Kessel were together almost exclusively.  The year before was Mac-Grabbo-Kulemin when that line was dominating.  Before that was Kulemin-Bozak-Kessel for that stretch to end the season.

Obviously Kessel and Grabbo have seen some time together when things aren't working or the team needs a shakeup but they definitely haven't seen an extended amount.  I'd say no more than 2-3 games at a time max.

Uh... not many? Because they haven't been paired together that often. And the time they did spend together (the end of Kessel's first season in T.O.) Kessel put up great numbers. Or was that a trick question?

The end of Kessel's first season with the Leafs, he was on a line with Kulemin and Bozak, not Grabovski.

I was pretty sure he played a regular shift with Grabovski the last dozen games or so. I must have remembered it wrong then.

They've tried it for a couple games here and there every year since Kessel has been on the team, and the result has always been the same - they didn't instantly mesh so the team went back to the lines that worked.
