I liked the idea that he should have just tweeted "I-N-T-E-N-S-E".

Corn Flake said:Burke being Burke, I guess. His mouth is his own worst enemy. Doesn't look good on him especially considering he's not even the GM of team USA this time. Really overstepped it with that interview and the comments about Ryan, IMO.

I really don't blame Burke here. You really think he would have said any of those things if he knew he was 100% on the record? I definitely don't agree with his comments, but that doesn't mean they aren't commonplace in that sort of environment. I'm sure some people from Team Canada were making the same argument against guys like Hall or Seguin right now.
Corn Flake said:I didn't realize it wasn't an official interview. I just read the quote. Who did he say it to and what was the context?
In that case yeah I don't fault him too much at all.

Two reporters were invited to be flies on the wall for all the US meetings. They both filed in-depth stories that essentially explained how the team was picked. So the comments from Burke and others were just things that they said during these meetings. Apparently it was believed that USA hockey would be editorial control over the stories by that wasn't the case.
Dr. Bobby Leafer said:So how did this footage get out in the first place? Either way, I'm not letting Burke off entirely. - One should watch what he/she says because you never know...
CarltonTheBear said:Again, it wasn't footage.
Dr. Bobby Leafer said:It was. I saw the video last night.

Link? I've only seen the written articles.
That doesn't change anything I said though. Burke had every right to speak his mind openly. Had he tip-toed around the issue he would have done a disservice to USA hockey. You can argue that Burke is wrong all you want (I'd agree with that), but he shouldn't be at fault for hurting Ryan's feelings.
Dr. Bobby Leafer said:Don't have one but it was on Sportsnet last night... I'm positive of that.

Video of Burke's comments in the meeting or video of Ryan's reaction?
