Despite the current population being about 51%-49% Protestant - Catholic, which is vaguely what the division is about, recent polls showed that in a similar united Ireland referendum it would be something along the lines of up to as many as 65% of people in Northern Ireland would vote NO to a united Ireland.
NI, like Scotland would probably like more of a say in its own future and more powers devolved rom Westminster to our local parliament. Personally I don't trust the people within that Parliament with those extra powers but that's a different discussion.
Should Scotland say yes (which seems to be very unlikely, going by the news reports coming out so far), that could definitely shake things up over here.
My personal opinion is that NI is better off as part of the UK rather than Ireland, and that's based upon economics and education policies etc rather than any religious reason.

Being from Glasgow I was pretty astonished with the results. I fully expected Glasgow to vote No, being one of the big industrial engines of the empire and nostalgia, and pension fears swaying the vote there. I also expected a strong Yes vote from Edinburgh as they had the most to gain from a Yes vote and I thought politically that Edinburgh was driving the whole Referendum bus. I also thought Aberdeen would have been a solid yes camp. Strange times, oh well, until we do it again in another 5years, although next time will be with much less fanfare.Deebo said:

If people haven't gotten into it yet I can't recommend Serial enough. It's a true crime podcast in which a murder from 1999 and the subsequent (wrongful?) conviction of the victim's ex-boyfriend is being examined in depth week by week. I had it recommended to me by a bunch of friends, put it off and then listened to every single episode over two nights.
