Vesey claimed off waivers by Vancouver

I am very far from saying that this is the end of the world, but weird to think waiving a guy who was tied for 4th in 5-on-5 goals for the team is a nothing move. He took a lot more flak than was deserved.

4 out of his 5 goals were almost entirely earned by Nylander and Spezza. The finish is important though, as we've seen with Kerfoot/Tavares, Barabanov/Mikheyev muffinning similar gifts.

Vesey is ok, nothing special.  Galchenyuk has way more upside if he can get anywhere close to the player he was years ago.

Curious to see who fills his (admittedly minor) role on the PK. Hyman and Marner are always the first ones out, with Mikheyev and Kerfoot coming next to replace them. After that Engvall and Vesey have been the 3rd forward pair to come out on quick shifts. Spezza gets PK minutes as well but that's strictly as a FOGO guy so I don't think he'd become part of the regular rotation.

Barabanov should get looks.

True, although if Galch and Simmonds are in regular jerseys it still seems like Barabanov is on the outside right now.

PK is going to let it in by shift two anyway, so no need to sweat shift three  ;D

Agreed, the Barber has a motor and has shown some brief flashes.

Even the 5th was a tap in.  i think he was okay,  gave decent value on his contract, but easily replaceable

I was thinking the same. I mean maximize your assets but I guess other teams could just say nah, we'll just wait. We see what you're doing with Galy and we'll wait.

It looks like they did have to waive one of Vesey or Boyd to get Galchenyuk up on the team though (with Simmonds healthy as well).

You gotta feel for Vesey here, he goes from a sure playoff team to Vancouver.

It was my understanding that Montreal and Vancouver were supposed to be 1-2 in this division.
