Just wondering how the fatigue factor figures in this series, particularly for Los Angeles.

They haven't had a half week's worth or so of rest, similar to Chicago, (or even Montreal or New York, in the East), so was wondering if L.A. will be feeling a sense of lag as the series wears on.

No doubt it'll be a hitting series with everything else thrown in, and it the Kings find themselves having to play catch up (either series wise or game wise),  then the 'Hawks might just have the upper hand, so to speak.

That's a pretty easy question to answer I would think.

If you go back and look at who won the stanley cup historically and if the winner or the loser played more games.

2013 cup - Chi won and played 1 more game than Bos
2012 cup - LA won and played 4 less games than NJ
2011 cup - Bos won and played equal games to Van
2010 cup - Chi won and played one less game than Phi
2009 cup - Pit won and played one more game than Det
2008 cup - Det won and played 2 more games than Pit
2007 cup - Ana won and played 1 more game than Ott
2006 cup - Car won and played 1 more game than Edm
2004 cup - Tampa won and played 3 less games than Calgary
2003 cup - NJ won and played 3 more games than Ana

I would go back further but it seems to not matter really.

The reason I chose games played is because generally if you play more games you get less rest and if you play less games you have more rest. My method wasn't perfect but it seems to show that no matter how many games a team has played before the Stanley Cup round. It's the team itself that decided the outcome, not the amount of rest or games played.

However this doesn't factor in things specifically like injuries and such. But I would argue that the more games you played the more chances your team had for injuries. And that also doesn't seem to matter here.

Chicago 3  Los Angeles 1.  'Hawks lead series 1 game to 0.

The Blackhawks goalkeeper Corey Crawford rose to the occasion and saved the game for his team, enough to give the 'Hawks time to pad their lead.

Circa the second period.  Chicago already up l-0,  captain Jonathan Toews scores but goal disallowed due to interference with Kings goaltender Quick.  Momentum
appears to shift in L.A's favour as Kings tie it up.

Enter Crawford.  Stiffling Los Angeles on numerous chances enabling his team enough time to take the lead and the eventual victory.

Chicago thus remains with a perfect playoff home record and Crawford the top playoff goalie in wins and save percentage.

L.A. thoroughly demolished them.  Talk about imploding, but never expected the 'Hawks to give up 6 unanswered goals.

Going back to L.A., on home ice, gives the Kings momentum they'll need, and, being away takes some of the pressure off of Chicago.

This series just got more interesting!

Los Angeles 4  Chicago 3.  Kings lead series 2 games to 1.

The line of Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson, centred by Jeff Carter, took care of the bullwerk of L.A.'s scoring needs, while goaltender Jonathan Quick was again solid in net, enroute to the Kings taking the win in Game 3 at home in L.A.

The 'Hawks simply couldn't get the puck past a determined Quick, even though Chicago's Patrick Sharp did score to narrow the lead with just eight seconds remaining in the third period.  Too little, too late for Chicago.

'Hawks captain Jonathan Toews' two goals in the game were his first pair that he's scored in the playoffs dating back to 2010.  It was also the first road loss for the Chicago Blackhawks in the playoffs since 2010.

What is going on with the Hawks? Blown leads and now down 2-0 in the first in Game 4.

I don't know, but, it looks like the league might be getting the dream matchup Stanley Cup final in terms of media markets.
