WCF: (C3) Chicago vs. (P3) Los Angeles

Another blown lead by the Hawks tonight. They were up 3-1 in the first, it's now 4-3 Kings in the 2nd. Shape up or it's over!

Considering what LA gave up for Gaborik, they sure got some value.
Frattin, a 2nd and a 3rd in exchange for 11 goals and 7 assists in 18 playoff games (so far).

Just a nitpick - it's actually Frattin and a pair of 2nd rounders now, thanks to the Kings getting out of the 1st round alive.

Chicago 5  Los Angeles 4.  2OT  Kings lead series 3 games go 2.

Thanks to Chicago forward Brandon Saad's wizardry that set up Michel Handzus' OT goal that bet Crawford with a backhanded writ shot, the 'Hawks staved off elimination in Game #5 at the United Centre.

'Hawks fans need to also thank Ben Smith whose goal at 1:15 in regulation enabled Chicago to send the game into overtime.

Both goaltenders, the Kings Jonathan Quick, and the Blackhawks Corey Crawford made numerous mad-scrambling saves, the reason that sent the game to double OT.

The Los Angeles Kings were no slouches in this game, not certainly with just a little over seven minutes remaining in the third period, when they mounted a worthy comeback to tie the game.

Chicago line of Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane contributed heavily to the 'Hawks offence, with Kane accumulating four assists in the game.

For the 21,000 or so fans at the United Centre, it was as thrilling a game as they could possibly ask for, and then some!

Game #6 will be played Friday night L.A.

So Kings win tonight and its NY vs LA. Dream matchup! East vs West. Stars galore!

I'd prefer an original six matchup myself, Chicago vs NY, but if LA does prevail, I'll be cheering them over the Rags....two former Barrie Colts on LA :)

The two largest media markets in the league. Absolutely the ideal for them.

I've read it could actually have a positive effect on the cap for next year.

I suppose. Although considering Chicago is the #3 market I wonder if they wouldn't prefer that matchup and keep things in TV friendly time zones.

Who is Bettman pulling for right now?...

Steve Ballmer.

The 'Hawks two foot soldiers, Brandon Saad and Andrew Shaw have played pivotal roles in both game victories for Chicago.  Saad's pass to Handzus in OT (5-4 win in Game 5), and Shaw (& Saad's) work in creating havoc in front of the Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick enabled Kane to work his magic for the game winner (4-3i n Game 6) to even the series.

The Kings have had so much trouble handling this troika (Saad, Shaw, Kane) that goes to show Chicago's edge in depth in that department, at least for the last two games.

Los Angeles sports a perfect 6-0 record in elimination games, while Chicago is 12-0.

Impressed with the Hawks forcing game 7. This is one of those series that I would have been disappointed if it hadn't gone 7. Wow.
