Final score: Chicago 4 Los Angeles 3 (OT) Chicago wins series 4 games to 1.
Patrick Kane's hat-trick, including the overtime winner, capped an emotional and jubilant celebration for the 'Hawks and their fans, in defeating the LA. Kings in Game 5 to take the series.
Having 'reunited' Jonathan Toews & Patrick Kane on the same line as had been done in Game 4, proved pivotal for Chicago in their ensuing victories. Not that the 'Hawks needed the combo but it sure made things a little more sure-fire, to say the least.
Duncan Keith's return from a suspension ensured things on the back-end (including an offensive contribution), while goaltender Corey Crawford made the necessary saves.
For the LA, Kings, with Mike Richards back from 'injury', they came-from-behind in this game, cutting Chicago's 3-2 lead in the third period with just a mere nine seconds left, when L.A's Richards tipped in an Anze Kopitar shot to send the game into extra time....until Kane's heroics.
Kings goaltender Quick provided solid netminding but it was still not enough to stop the 'Hawks, especially in these last two games of the series. For the Kings, the 'Hawks proved simply a tad too much to handle overall.
Chicago goes on to the Stanley Cup Final and a date with the Eastern Conference champion Boston Bruins.
