Yes, it's time for Eakins

Oh yeah.

All right, on one level it's way too early.  But OTOH why should Nonis stick with Carlyle?  It wasn't his hire, and Carlyle IMO has been pretty handily outcoached a few times already this season.  Not to mention his stubborn sticking with the Kostka/Phaneuf pairing, which should have been s-canned 4 games ago.

Carlyle is not the coach who is going to drive this team to great heights.  Hell, he's not even going to get it to mediocre heights.  It's time for a complete re-set, not this half-assed coda to Burke's failed tenure.

I would love to see Eakins behind the wheel, the sooner the better.

His decisions on ice time are baffling. He's giving Weber ice time to freakin' Mike Kostka. He's only playing our best line 10 minute a night. He has Orr in there every game. He sticks with Kessel-Bozak despite the fact it's CLEARLY NOT WORKING.

Let's shake things up!

JVR - Grabovski - Kessel
Frattin - Kadri - Mcclement
MacArthur - Bozak - Kulemin
Brown - Steckel - Komarov

Hopefully Grabovski can get Kessel going. Mcclement's also playing really well right now and he deserves to be rewarded for that. I'm also loving that 4th line, looks like it could be a real good energy line.

It is too early.  Remember that Kadri has basically said that randy has helped him have the confidence that he has (maybe our best forward right now) whereas eakins just basically called him fat.

what I will say needs to happen is a desperation trade!  the season is only 9 games old!

lol...Nonis loves Carlyle and Nonis has said he will be more patient than Burke.  This means that if we are fighting for a playoff spot we will see more of the same Roster-wise and if we are waaaay out of it then we will see more kids brought up and spare parts traded for picks and prospects in a pretty deep draft and Carlyle will get the rest of this season to see what he can squeeze out of this roster.

I like these lines, pretty much what I was thinking as well. Splitting up Kessel and bozak is a good idea since they are both way too soft in their end.  With this 4th line you wouldn't have to worry about spotting them ice time as you could roll with 4 lines and you get some grit on each line.

Is this the new tank thread? Why not keep Carlyle around so that the team can tank properly? 8)

Seriously, it's almost time to gas up the tank.  Short season, won't be as painful.

I think the stat was that 90% of the playoff positions were set after 10 games in 94-95.  We drop the next couple we might as well start looking at draft picks.

I was only half joking, really. By the end of the month, pretty much half the season will have been played. It'll be pretty clear by then whether there's any reason to keep things together or if it's time to start selling off spare parts and expiring contracts.

That being said, because of the short season and minimal training camp, I'm willing to give Carlyle a bit of a pass on how things go this year. He's not doing much to help keep on him secure footing much into next season, though.

I'm assuming MLSE probably isn't keen on paying three head coaches at the same time.

And I assume they have taken notes from the RIM situation and probably aren't keen on watching their flagship product continue to plummet in terms of both quality and marketability.

Leafs for MLSE are more like iPhones for Apple.  Same crap every year keeps bringing in the bank.

Hehehe... it's funny to insult the most/2nd most lucrative company in the world that I could never dream of even working for let alone copy with my own company because it's hip and cool. Go me! I'm a Microsoft/Linux/Android/BB or whatever lover that's totally right and all you other people are wrong!

/sarcasm

MLSE Just like Apple and any other company that's successful for the most part is trying to stay competitive and creative. I don't doubt ever in my mind that what these companies want is to win. I highly doubt they're sitting in a board room somewhere talking about how little work they can do to turn in the same paycheck. They want the cup. Just like Apple is always trying to make the best phone in the world.

Obviously, Toronto hasn't brought home the cup in a while. A long long while. But I really think it's pathetic to joke about it as if they aren't trying. Maybe they have the wrong people in the positions they're in. Maybe they don't always make the perfect trades and decisions. But I never doubt that they're at least trying to do these things correctly.

And as for Apple bashing. Get your head out of your butt. Those jokes are old and tired. Insult the zune or something. At least it was a failure by a company trying for greatness and would be relevant rather than a company trying for greatness and succeeding far better than every other company in their entire industry.

Wow hit a nerve did we?  Learn to take a joke bud.  I'm plenty happy with the company I work for.  We're even on the Apple gravy train.  ;)

Don't read too much into what I said.  I'm sure Apple and MSLE are trying to create the best product they can.  There's no hate here, just a prod.  Talk of old and tired, I'm supposed to beat the (literally) dead horse that is the zune?  Please.

The point stands, they are both businesses that will rake in the cash regardless of the product because they have loyal customers that are in it for better or for worse.  For now Apple's products are obviously better than the Leafs, but that wasn't the point.
