No Bryan McCabe, as Chayka promotes from within the dev team (unless they’re splitting pro level dev with prospect dev…; there is already AHL/ECHL dev)
Good summary in here of the work he has been doing with Tavares
I grew up watching him and was always in awe of him. Definitely too bad but when you're lugging around guys like Jonas Hoglund...Too bad Mats never got a cup. When you hear people talk about him, it sounds like he did all the right things to bring a team together. Probably why it felt like those Leaf teams were always punching above their weight class.
Yeah, damn fax machine...I grew up watching him and was always in awe of him. Definitely too bad but when you're lugging around guys like Jonas Hoglund...
> Max Domi has called him “probably the best development coach in the league,” crediting the combination of on-ice micro-reps and video breakdowns that improved his transitional playmaking and neutral-zone decision-making
Oh, so that's why Domi is so good at neutral-zone decision-making /s
Constantly attempting passes that have a zero percent chance of completion is on Domi.Haha, note how I said he did a lot to help Tavares, and neglected to mention the above.
That said, Tavares was deployed to mitigate his weakness and bolster his opportunities for success.
Domi was initially thrust into a situation well over his head (hard match L1), and then relegated to a misfit line while playing through a back injury. He's not the level of player that you'd want the coaching staff to have to orient the whole team structure around, but his deployment did him no favours, while he still gave what he had to the team.
