2013 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

When the Dickie and Johnson acquisitions were announced, I was hoping they would go out and get Wang, and now they did.  Looking fwd to a summer of plentiful DP action and pounding the balls to T-Hole.  Hopefully Dickie and Johnson turn it around cuz I was starting to think we got shafted in the deals.  Now that they're back to winning, every night is BJ night! Now bring up Dave Bush!

Read this a few hours ago and the joke completely flew over me. Now that I'm reading it again...lol.

I guess it was only a matter of time that the streak had to come to an end, and not all that surprising that it was the Rays. Jays need to get back on the winning track tonight.

I'm going to miss Kawasaki a lot. Any chance the give him a whirl at 2B in AAA? I mean, in a prefect world, he replaces Bonifacio down the stretch.

There is talk of that and maybe they try him there down in AAA first.

He will likely be back if there is any injury to others in mid-infield.

I wonder if the Jays will give their current AAA 2B a look at some point. He's not much of a prospect at 28 but he's having a heck of a year. Outside of that I don't know if there's much point in asking a 32 year old Kawasaki to learn a position he's never really played considering how limited the offensive upside is.

Hey I'm just trying to find ways to get rid of Bonifacio at this point.

If that's the only aim they could just play De Rosa there every day.

That would be what I would do but they seem to give Bonifacio an incredibly long leash.  The guy should be a utility/pinch runner at best.

He's got some decent defensive metrics, if that helps.

I think Bonifacio is having a bit of an off year. He may still turn it around. He hit .296 in 2011 as an everyday player. Only .258 last year in far fewer at bats. So his .200 average this year is out of place. Maybe he's just having a tough time adjusting to the AL.

Of course we're nearing the half-way point so there has to be a breaking point too.

He's been much better defensively lately. I will give him that. Just think more should be coming from that position and DeRosa is as good a fielder if not better (you can tell me if I'm wrong there based on numbers) and a much better hitter.

He's treated as a guy with potential.  But at 28 how much potential ceiling is there yet to be reached?

He almost hit .300 in 2011. If he can reproduce that, he'd be a solid part of the line-up. I guess the question is if he's a one-hit wonder, but I think the team was expecting him to come in and have a good batting average from the bottom half of the order. It's just not panning out.

When we traded for him I heard a lot of other players talking about how great he is. I had high expectations for him.

If you look at his career, it's that 2011 season that stands out as the outlier, not this one. What we're seeing from Bonifacio this year is only slightly below where he's been in just about every season he's played in MLB.
