Tim Thompson (the guy who did the intros to HNIC) has done a tribute to Jean Beliveau, and it's good: http://vimeo.com/114060590

Can't wait for the Sportsnet/Strombolopoulos voice-over trainwreck on Saturday.

I'd rather hear Bernier introduce him. "Beliveau was a philanthropist, an inspiration for those against apartheid and a symbol for peace and perseverance."

Wait, is the implication here that this guy no longer works for HNIC? Why in the world would they get rid of him? He's the best employee they had.

He still works for Rogers but in a much smaller role. They basically said something like they won't be using his montages as much as CBC did. Which makes this even more baffling. They had this guy who works for them, is known by fans for his amazing montages, wanted to make a montage for this occasion, and they still didn't use him for it.

Well, you wouldn't want to cut into the amount of time they give Nik Kypreos to yell for no reason.

Looks fine to me.

So Crosby officially has the mumps (despite the fact that the Pens doctors let him practice and speak to the media on Friday).

It's pretty dumbfounding to be honest.  As many in the media and fans were able to point out, Crosby's parotid gland is sticking out like a sore thumb.  Mumps has an incubation period of 5-7 days before the onset of symptoms.  Once you become symptomatic (such as freaking huge salivary glands) you are still considered contagious for another 9 days.

We know the NHL has been dealing with a Mumps outbreak.  You have a player with symptoms highly suggestive of a possible Mumps infection.  Standard protocol is to tell families to stay away from public places like arenas until 7-9 days after the onset of the illness.

Extremely stupid.
