Byfuglien suspended for 4 games, pretty bad timing on his part

But, remember kids, showing up to a game in a track suit is selfish.

Not really sure what one has to do with the other.

I think Big Buff's actions were selfish because what he did was unnecessary and it hurt his team. He should have held up.

The one thing I'm thinking is how in the world does Kadri get 4 games and Dustin only gets 4 games for that?  :-\

You're right, absolutely nothing.

Nik should probably want to take that one back...Discipline is still OK even if you didn't try to take someone's head off.

Isn't the connection that Byfuglien threw Kane's tracksuit in the shower in some demonstration of how you're supposed to be a pro and show up in a proper fashion to meetings?  Then Byfuglien does something unprofessional and that hurts the team.

And to build on the above, in your typical meat head hockey culture what Kane did will follow him around as evidence of his "bad character" whereas Byfuglien's probably won't despite his being far more damaging to the team.

I fully get that but what I meant is they are two completely separate actions that both merit punishment.

To switch to some positive news, Jaromir Jagr!

He tied Ron Francis last night for 4th all time in NHL scoring

Goals: 3. Brett Hull (741), 4. Marcel Dionne (731), 5. Jaromir Jagr (721)
Assists: 5. Paul Coffey (1135), 6. Adam Oates (1079), 7. Jaromir Jagr (1077)
Points: 2. Mark Messier (1887), 3. Gordie Howe (1850), 4. Jaromir Jagr (1798)

Since getting traded to Florida he has 14 points in 16 games.  He has 43 points this year at the age of 43 in a scoring era where guys are struggling to break PPG status.

I think the connection that was trying to be made is that Byfuglien looks like a hypocrite.

Gotchya.

I'd say it's as much an indictment of the way the professional hockey commentariat talk about these things as it is Byfuglien himself but, well, we're close enough for government work at this point.

No doubt that the media coverage received for Kane's jogging pants is ridiculous. There was a time that the in house disagreements were kept "in house"

The thing that drives me nuts about that whole thing is that Kane was the one who was written off as the bad person in that whole event.  What part of Bufuglyien's behaviour was acceptable?  Throwing someones clothes in the shower so you don't have any?  That sounds an awful lot like bullying mentality that we are trying to rid ourselves of in the school system right now.  So Dustin essentially sends a fantastic negative message.

Next time a kid doesn't wear his school uniform to class strip him down and make him walk home soaked.

I get the whole team rules thing, send him home to change and then bench him, but what happened was absurd and the fact that the team, organization and media supported Dustin that whole ordeal speaks volumes to how bass-ackward professional sports can be.

Yeah, say what you will about the Leafs this year but at least with the Leafs facing a similar situation with Kadri it was handled professionally and by the right people.

Didn't think the possibility would have ever existed, but man, I'd actually love to see the Penguins miss the playoffs.

Edmonton trading for a lottery pick for Perron ends up as phenomenal value.  Pittsburgh really is an enigma to me.  They just don't seem like that bad of a team but they sure look it.

Missing 3 of their top-4 defenceman right now. Crosby and Malkin have both missed some games recently too.

The question is, what kind of message does it send to your team when you start the back up goalie in a must win game in a city where you struggle to win?
