Pens about to lose again.

Had just 5 defencemen in the line-up because of injuries. They still control their own fate though. A win against Buffalo tomorrow clinches a playoff spot.

Ottawa @ Philadelphia - 12:30 EST
Pittsburgh @ Buffalo - 19:00 EST
Boston @ Tampa - 19:30 EST

Ottawa and Pittsburgh have the easiest matchups and Boston has a decent shot at playing a meaningless 3rd period.

Way to go, Isles!  Beat the Pens 3-1 to clinch berth.

Also, Go Johnny T Go!  Tavares & Crosby (along with the Stars' Jamie Benn) are tied with 84 pts. each.  With one game left, it'll be interesting to see which one of these three emerges as league leader and potential Art Ross Trophy winner.

GO ISLANDERS!!

So Jamie Benn wins the Art Ross. There's something I bet you could have gotten good odds on to start the year.

Yep, and Iginla has another strong season at 29g - 59points, 61 points last year.

His production certainly isn't tailing off, and he's 38 this summer.

Jagr as well still has game in the tank. I don't understand why a team like the Isles didn't pick him up off NJ for the playoffs.

18 points in 20 games after being traded to Florida.  At the age of 43.

Just to build on it a little at 129th Jamie Benn becomes the lowest draft choice to ever win the Art Ross by better than 100 spots(with the caveat that neither St. Louis or Gretzky were taken in the NHL draft).

Yeah exactly. Can't figure out why Florida was the only team willing to trade for him.

This alone now makes Dallas very, very high on my long list of teams I don't want to win the lottery.

They were 50-1, according to what Mirtle tweeted last night.

Also, this:

SWhyno: Jamie Benn's 87 points to win Art Ross are lowest since Gordie Howe's 86 in 1962-63 and lowest PPG (1.06) since Elmer Lach (1.02) in 1947-48

I'm sure other teams were interested but to beat Florida's offer they would have essentially have had to offer a first or two seconds. That's a pretty steep price to pay.

I still fondly remember the times when far more players than teams would get 100 points, instead of the other way around.

Jagr signed a new 1 year deal in Florida.

He was asked a couple of weeks ago about future plans and he remarked that he feels physically able to play til he is about 50.

I'm also pretty sure he doesn't have a family, he puts everything in to the game.

Also, as hard as this may be to believe, there is talk he might need the money.

Yeah, he likes to gamble apparently or he did at least. I remember speculation that his return to the KHL was fueled in part by that.

Although his family is wealthy in The Czech Republic, so not sure if money is the major factor still.

He's also a devout Christian now,, think he might have settled down somewhat.

Maybe he is trying to become the second player to hit 2000 points.  Wonder where he would have ended up without the 4 years in the KHL?

Just heard on the FAN that Philly and San Jose have scheduled press conferences for this afternoon. They speculated that Berube is done, but I got out of the car before they speculated on San Jose, other than "who knows what direction they are going in". Wilson getting canned perhaps?
