Anaheim loses again, 2-1 to St. Louis. The Ducks have scored 10 goals in 10 games. The second lowest scoring team in the league has scored twice as often as they have.

They've already been shut out 5 times! That's a season's worth for most teams.

I'm surprised they haven't fired Boudreau yet.  I know it's the quick and many times unfair decision, but they need to do something to wake up that team.

It's unusual for a coach to be fired before the 10/15 game point of the season. It happens, but usually they're given some time to see if it's just a slump or if it really is an extended issue. So, Boudreau's days are probably numbered now. I doubt he lasts to the end of November.

Much like with Columbus, Anaheim's start could pretty much eliminate them from playoff contention already. Last season the 8th place seed in the West had 97 points. Let's just say it takes 96 to get in this year. Anaheim has 4 points in their first 10 games. So they need 92 points in their remaining 72 to reach that point. That's a .639 winning percentage. Only the top-5 teams in the league played at that pace last season.

Granted, Anaheim was one of them at .665, but they would need to turn their season around immediately. Every loss just makes that number go higher.

They need to go on a crazy winning streak to get back at it.  As bad as their start looks, if they can go on a 9-0-1 run after then they're back on equal footing for the rest of the season.  That team has the talent to win a bunch of games in a row, have no idea what their issue is right now.

Some people are truly the worst. Glad the Pens made things right though. Would have been better if their mascot smacked the adult over the head too.

Seriously. What a colossal jerk! Looks straight at the kid and puts the puck in his pocket. Wow. Great customer relations by the Pens, for sure. Good on them.

I know NA sports are altogether a lot more civilised as far as the spectating goes, but that guy would have been going home in an ambulance had he done that at a European soccer match.

I always wonder what the reaction of the people around that guy is during the interim before they give the kid something.

Some rando on twitter said beer was dumped on him and he and his friend left.

Justice.

Doug Murray's statement on Bruce Boudreau and the Ducks (via @icemancometh):

I really don't like commenting on rumors but I will say this. We were one game away from the final just five months ago. So while this has been a terrible start, I'm not inclined to make rash changes. I'm going to be patient. That said, we are severely underperforming as a group. I can't recall a time where a vast majority of our players have underachieved simultaneously, and I fully expect a turnaround.

Also in the "how are these guys so bad" file, the Flames are just a point up on the Ducks after 11 games and have allowed 46 goals.

Surely Hartley won't succumb to the Jack Adams curse this early?

Although a Burke and Carlyle reunion in Calgary sound great to me.

Flames are a little less of a surprise to me. I didn't think they were as good as their record last season. Didn't think they'd be this bad, but figured they'd be middle of the pack at best.
