So it looks like Duncan Keith will probably get suspended.:

He should probably stop slashing people in the face.

That's actually the second time he's swung his stick at someone's head.  Remember the Jeff Carter-Keith incident (Keith apologized to Carter on-ice later in that game).

This time though, the intent according to many, looked quite intentional.
Recklessness or intention swinging a stick shouldn't have a place in the game.  Keith will be suspended and rightly so.

Chicago's Duncan Keith has been offered an in person hearing for high-sticking on Minnesota's Charlie Coyle.

In-person hearings generally mean the suspension will be more than 5 games. Chicago only has 5 games left on their schedule, so he could miss a playoff game as a result.

Repeat slash to the face offender.  Honestly I would be sending a pretty damn big message on this one.  I mean when they went and gave concussed Wideman a 20-game suspension I would honestly view something like this as deserving of 10.

I'm with you.  That's a 10 gamer.

And I know that would seriously screw up Chicago, but I don't think they should be basing these decisions on stuff like that...but they probably will and he'll get 5 or 6.

Florida receives two, delay of game penalties last night for fans throwing promotional plastic rats on the ice. I'm kind of shocked by this. It has nothing to do with the players what so ever, external factors should not influence a game.

Florida should probably just stop handing our plastic rats to avoid it from happening again.

You're shocked by something that's always been true in all sports? The fact that it hurts the hometeam is what contains bad fan behaviour.

I am shocked, what sports penalize teams for their fans behavior? Is it actually enforced?

All of them. If fans throw things onto a field enough the home team will forfeit the game.

The only shocking thing about this is that the Panthers handed everybody plastic rats (which are famous in their history because rats were thrown onto the ice) and didn't expect them to get thrown onto the ice.

That'd be like if the Leafs handed everyone a waffle at the ACC.

Video is captioned: "Check this out, as Charlie Coyle might not be quite the victim we played him out to be in the Duncan Keith violent slashing incident."

I'm genuinely not sure if this entire video is an April Fools joke or not. It analyses Coyle pushing Keith in the chest with one hand as if it's the footage of JFK getting shot.

Never heard of it being enforced in any sport.

Because it's an effective policy.
I can't think of a time besides yesterday that it was enforced but I remember a lot of times and a lot sports where crap got thrown on the field and it wasn't enforced. Therefore I am SURPRISED that it was enforced yesterday.
